My Actifit Report Card: July 19 2021

Hi guys and thanks for stopping by!

I got up this morning and headed outdoors to work on the garden a bit. Everything needed a drink! The flowers are doing great; the vegetables - the jury is still out. I’ve got lots of blooms on the squash and pumpkins, but no pumpkins or squash showing. The potatoes are about ready for harvest and I think they’ll be pretty good. The carrots are doing well. We’ve had an unprecedented summer and I’m seeing interesting results with both planted garden and then the fruit trees we have. I’ll have to say I’m thinking the harvest will not be as bountiful as I’d hoped it’d be.

We headed out with Jan for the hike mid afternoon. It was hotter than I like, but we kept at it. This is one of the more shady spots along the trail.

We took a bit of a break up at Towhee Ridge. It was very pleasant with the breeze that was blowing there.

One of our neighbors has several goats and today, this Nubian was tied where we could finally get a good look at her.

The only problem I have with this is that they are tied. We live in known cougar country. Three years ago, another neighbor’s staked goat was attacked and killed, and another one’s goat was drug over their fenced in paddock and killed by cougars. To me, tying or staking them out is just like ringing a huge dinner bell 🔔 saying ‘dinner’s ready’! But, people can be stupid, unfortunately for the animals. 😔

I’ll begin working on dinner here soon. Bedtime is looking to be after midnight 😢

Take care everyone and have a good evening!
