I got to work this morning and everything seemed fine. Seemed-being the illusion. I booted up my computer as usual; made sure it was able to see the server and that’s when I realized my morning was going to go south! I got an error message saying it was connected to the server but there was some kind of issue. I went up front to the server. It was asleep, so I jostled the mouse only to get this......
Yes, that’s a desktop but that’s not our normal one. I could not use the mouse to restart; nor to power off. I tried ‘alt, control, delete’ and nothing happened. Oh boy, just what I needed with the day’s appointments needing insurance verifications! So I tried calling the doc; no answer. I texted him as well; no response. So I started researching what this might indicate. I found some articles that observe this behavior with an update gone bad, but I’d done no updates. Their advice was to hard shut it down and power it back on, saying that should take care of it. Honestly, that had actually been my first thought and the only reason I didn’t was that it’s not my computer. If I was going to crash it further, I wanted the doc’s hand in on it.
After he got to work, I told him what I’d found and he agreed that’s what we should do. I did the deed and it worked! Awesome! Now I could go do all that I didn’t get done earlier. To make me even more crazy-a patient had shown at 9 AM saying he had a 9:00 appointment. I asked him to wait in the car as the doc wasn’t here and I knew nothing of the appointment. He willingly agreed. What a morning! 🤪🤣
Then, I learned we also had an after hours appointment in the evening. So much for going home on time! I got home close to 6 pm and after a coffee, there was no real time for a hike.
