The two questions that our friend @tibaire has kindly left us are questions that inspire. On this occasion, I will choose the first one because it made me remember my hometown, its history, its monuments and its special charm. ¡Saludos, mis queridas Damas de Hive! Por acá, estoy de nuevo, muy contenta de participar en el concurso de esta semana, gracias a la invitación de mi querida @sacra97. Las dos preguntas que nos deja, amablemente, la amiga @tibaire son preguntas que inspiran. En esta ocasión, escogeré la primera porque me hizo rememorar mi ciudad natal, su historia, sus monumentos y su especial encanto. Así que esta será la que voy a responder para mi participación. 1️⃣ Cuéntanos sobre algún lugar histórico de tu ciudad. ¿Por qué te gusta ese lugar? Cumana is the first-born of the American continent, a city with a lot of history and monuments that give us account of all the time that has passed. It is the cradle of independence heroes, of great poets and exceptional musicians. I had the fortune of being born and living during my first 51 years in San Francisco, a neighborhood in the historic center of Cumana that exhibits its narrow streets with high sidewalks and steps that allow ascending to other streets that are joined by alleys adorned with houses with high doors and beautiful windows that invite you to admire the outside world.

Cumaná es la primogénita del continente americano, una ciudad con mucha historia y con monumentos que nos dan cuenta del todo el tiempo que ha transcurrido. Es cuna de próceres de la independencia, de grandes poetas y músicos excepcionales. Yo tuve la fortuna de nacer y vivir durante mis primeros 51 años en San Francisco, un barrio del casco histórico de Cumaná que exhibe sus calles angostas con aceras altas y peldaños que permiten ascender a otras calles que se unen por callejones adornados con casas de puertas y altas y ventanales hermosos que invitan a admirar el mundo exterior.

The photographs that I share today, in my publication, are part of my family archive, to which I return to recall my childhood, adolescence and adulthood through these streets that keep much of what I have lived. I am delighted to show you the historical sites that can be found during a walk through my old town. Near my childhood home are the ruins of the Convent of San Francisco, which was built by Franciscan priests more than five hundred years ago. This convent has been recognized as architectural heritage and is still standing there, restored, as part of the historical and religious memory of Cumaná.

Las fotografías que comparto hoy, en mi publicación, forman parte de mi archivo familiar, a las cuales vuelvo para rememorar mis tiempos de infancia, adolescencia y adultez por esas calles que guardan buena parte de lo que he vivido. Estoy encantada de mostrarles los sitios históricos que podemos encontrar durante una caminata por mi casco histórico. Cerca de mi casa de infancia están las ruinas del Convento de San Francisco que fue construido por sacerdotes franciscanos, hace más de quinientos años. Este convento ha sido reconocido como patrimonio arquitectónico y ahí sigue de pie, restaurado, como parte de la memoria histórica y religiosa de Cumaná.

Following the walk through the streets of San Francisco, in the heart of the historic center, we find, first, the Castle Santa Maria de la Cabeza which was built in the seventeenth century by the Spanish monarchy and then with the Church of Santa Ines. These are two great architectural monuments of Cumaná that are preserved and that endure in time as witnesses of many historical events.

Al seguir el paseo por las calles de San Francisco, en el corazón del casco histórico, nos encontramos, primero, con el Castillo Santa María de la Cabeza que fue construido en el siglo XVII por la monarquía española y, luego con la Iglesia de Santa Inés. Estos son dos grandes monumentos arquitectónicos de Cumaná que se conservan y que perduran en el tiempo como testigos de muchos acontecimientos históricos.

And as the culmination of a traditional walk through the historic center, we arrived at the Castillo San Antonio de la Eminencia, from which you can admire a beautiful view of Cumaná with the sea in the background. The Castillo San Antonio de la Eminencia is a fort built in the 17th century that protected the city from pirate invasions. Inside you can perceive the peace of a place that is very close to heaven and that keeps the history of events that marked the history of Venezuela. It is a mandatory visit for all of us who live in Cumaná and for tourists who want to enrich themselves with a bit of history and rejoice their spirit from the heights of the San Antonio de la Eminencia Castle, which was declared a National Historic Monument. I leave you the pictures so you can enjoy a part of my Cumaná that I keep deep in my heart.

Y como culmen de un paseo tradicional por el casco histórico, llegamos al Castillo San Antonio de la Eminencia, desde el cual se puede admirar una hermosa vista de Cumaná con el mar al fondo. El Castillo San Antonio de la Eminencia es un fuerte construido en el siglo XVII que protegía la ciudad de las invasiones piratas. En su interior se puede percibir la paz de un lugar que está muy cerca del cielo y que guarda la historia de hechos que marcaron la historia de Venezuela. Es una visita obligatoria para todos los que vivimos en Cumaná y para los turistas que quieran enriquecerse con un poco de historia y regocijar su espíritu desde las alturas en el Castillo San Antonio de la Eminencia que fue declarado como Monumento Histórico Nacional.
