A day in Avignon - without dancing "Sur le pont d'Avignon"

Welcome to our day trip Avignon

We had a beautiful day in the French city of Avignon yesterday.

It took as less than an hour to drive to Avignon from our camping site. We got up in time had breakfast and started our little one day trip.

The have a great Park&Ride parking space with free transport to the city centre in a small electric coach.

After arriving in the city centre we started our walk trough town. It's a beautiful city with many old houses and interesting architecture.

The picture above shows the city hall. Next door is the theatre which must have been build about the same time.

We stopped there for coffee to get familiar with the town and how inhabitants and tourists move and behave. It was a great impression.

A stone's throw away is a huge place with the huge popes palace. Very impressive what they build in the 14th century.

Not far from the palace is the famous Pont Saint-Bénézet better known as Pont d'Avignon. An old French sing is about dancing on the bridge.

In case you are not familiar with the song cited in the title here ist the link to the video of the French song on YouTube

We didn't dance on or under the bridge but I had the song in my ears almost the whole day 😀

It was time for some food and some drinks around midday after we had visited the main sights.

The rest of the day we walked through town for shopping and watching.

Here are some impressions

And finally we found a nougat shop, which luckily was closed. No discussion if we should by some or not was needed 😂

After all we had a perfect day in this vibrant city with perfect temperatures and weather.

I highly want to recommend a visit in Avignon if you are in the region.

Thanks for reading and have a beautiful day.
