Cowan Creek Brings Turtle Orchids : February 15 2022

One of those mornings that just drifted by. The sun was up. Put the new wheel on the bike. Decided to ride a short distance to walk a track to the creek to check for chiloglottis orchids

Walked the grassy fire trail. First up Rupp's midge orchid

Corunastylis ruppii

Next midge orchid is fringed - corunastylis fimbriata

No idea what these spiky flowers are but the ants know - head up

Ass down

These mini greviliea flowers are amazing

Columned too

A spent corunastylis fimbriata. Dropped down to the rain forest

Found the chiloglottis flowering

ID is a challenge Calli not quite going to point of labellum suggests seminuda and not curviclava. I am baffled

Found a few getting to open. Side on supports seminuda. English name is turtle orchid - the shape is there

This one is more clear. The fab part is these are all new openers in a patch I found during lockdown.

BIG orchid spotting lesson. Keep coming back

Cowan Creek

Another turtle orchid opener

Just fab front on. Every one is subtly different

Reflections on the creek of a blue sky

One more orchid on the way back.

Did find a bonnet orchid open on the way back up from the creek. It is the season. This is the last but flowering up the spike = season is ending

Golden skink hiding its head in pose mode, sort of

Twins

The end of the midge orchids in the sunny parts of the track. Nice walk yields done new orchids and 4 types in flower in total

Short ride to test out new wheel. Need to change the chain to get the best out of the new cassette

Dinner: Duck breast prepped in sous vide

Seared skin side down after 60 minutes sous vide at 135F

Rest for 10 minutes and finish off twice cooked potatoes

Fab meal for under $10 - served with two side ls of fresh vegetables

Trade action: Closed out TSLA shorts. Bought AMN, OGZD.IL.
