Today, UAE celebrates its 52nd National Day. It is a widely celebrated holiday in the country, with lots of activities going around. This year is the 19th year I am celebrating it here in this country we have already considered our second home. Whew! Time really flies.
As usual, we just went to the Corniche (used to be the center of the celebrations) first, hoping there would be an air show, but there was none. The Al Fursan Air Show used to be one of the highlights of the celebration in the past years. Since the pandemic, there haven't been any air shows on National Day.
Al Mamsha, Saadiyat Island
We proceeded to Mamsha in Saadiyat Island to escape the looming traffic in the city and check out the sights in the island.
It is a quick 15kms drive from the city, but not when we need to make a big U turn and then miss and exit. 😅
It is beautiful beachfront community lined with cozy restaurants and coffee shops. The drive was totally worth it.
There were also singers busking at the promenade, which added to the vibrant vibe tonight.
As the sun set and the light went on, the breeze from the sea also got colder. The "main act" for tonight was Music Travel Love (more popularly known as the Moffats back in the 90's).
Before them, this guy kept the people entertained. He sure does know how to keep the crowd hyped with his choice of songs.
The crowd, mostly Filipinos 🤭, the music lovers that we are, patiently waited for the Music Travel Love duo to come out and perform.
But what happens when you have three kids with you, who cannot appreciate this kind of vibe? Of course, they get bored. 🙄
What happens when the kids start whining? The mother gets annoyed, and she walks out and threatens to leave them there. 😑
We we headed back home early. Perhaps the duo had not even finished singing two songs when we left. I was hoping to catch the fireworks, but meh.
Two more days left for the long weekend, and I think they just spoiled my enthusiasm to think of any more activities. I don't know. I hope my sour mood changes tomorrow when I wake up.
