Being one of the first scientists to register this species in Venezuela, my work was the subject of bibliographic citations by great ornithologists like Escola, my study helped to understand a little the behavior of this invader! for example I discovered that the male makes up to 5 nests, but only one is used by the female! This is so that if a possible predator threatens the nest, it has several traps before reaching the nest where the chicks are! amazing, right?🤩🤩
Por ser um dos primeiros cientistas a registrar essa espécie na Venezuela, meu trabalho foi objeto de citações bibliográficas de grandes ornitólogos como Escola, meu estudo ajudou a entender um pouco o comportamento desse invasor! por exemplo descobri que o macho faz até 5 ninhos, mas só um é usado pela fêmea! Isso é para que se um possível predador ameaçar o ninho, ele faça várias armadilhas antes de chegar ao ninho onde estão os filhotes! incrível, certo?😮😮
The tree where Ploceus places its nests is called (cuji since) a thorny xerophytic tree, here you can see how there are more than 15 nests made by the invasive bird but only 2 were active. This reinforced my theory about false nests.🤯
