Today I'm going to talk about one of my favourite artists, Alfons Mucha. I love his works because, in my opinion, they are the perfect combination of art and graphics: this artist was able to transform advertising posters into real works of art.
Alfons Mucha is a painter, graphic designer and illustrator born in 1860 in the Czech Republic. He is one of the leading exponents of the Art Nouveau movement, which in Italy is called Liberty Style. The artist lived in Vienna, Paris, Munich and even New York and his works are full of all these artistic influences. In his works we can often find splendid female figures, icons of the Belle Epoque. The attention to detail, elegance and the study of colours have always been the characteristics that have always struck me about this painter.
My today’s exercise with Adobe Illustrator is about reproducing one of Alfons Mucha's most famous posters called "Chocolat Idéal", dating back to around 1897. I patiently reconstructed the details of the artwork with the pen tool and the final project is a 100% vector illustration.

Oggi vi parlo di uno dei miei artisti preferiti, Alfons Mucha. Adoro i suoi lavori perché, a mio avviso, sono il binomio perfetto fra arte e grafica: questo artista è stato in grado di trasformare le locandine pubblicitarie in vere e proprie opere d’arte.
Alfons Mucha è un pittore, grafico e illustratore nato nel 1860 in Repubblica Ceca. Si tratta di uno dei maggiori esponenti del movimento dell’Art Nouveau, che in Italia viene chiamato Stile Liberty. L’artista ha vissuto a Vienna, a Parigi, a Monaco di Baviera e persino a New York e le sue opere sono ricche di tutte queste influenze artistiche. Nei suoi lavori possiamo trovare molto spesso delle splendide figure femminili, icone della Belle Epoque. L’attenzione ai dettagli, l’eleganza e lo studio dei colori sono state le caratteristiche che da sempre mi hanno colpito di questo pittore.
Il mio esercizio di oggi con Adobe Illustrator è stato quello di riprodurre una delle locandine più famose di Alfons Mucha chiamata “Chocolat Idéal”, risalente a circa il 1897. Ho minuziosamente e pazientemente ricostruito i dettagli dell’opera d’arte con lo strumento penna e il progetto finale è un’illustrazione completamente vettoriale.
