Alright. I'm gonna take you to the adventure of the processes.

- First, SEPARATING the seeds from the pulp of squash.

My mother sliced the squash into two then she collected all the seeds stuck on each of the squash pulps. These pulps are hard. There is somewhat difficulty to slice these squashes so my mother had to smash them with bolo to get them easily broken. Unlike when they are still immature or freshly picked that they are still the tender type of squash.

Since squash have slimy seeds and pulps, we need water so we can immediately rinse our slimy hands in case we already feel uncomfortable and we feel it difficult to break the squash because of the slimy texture.

Then we need to scoop the pulp so we can easily eliminate the seeds from the pulp.

These are the pulps, there are many of them. These are stored at one place, we may sell these if there are people who may like to buy. Because these pulps can be made as Okoy/Squash Balls or Squash Fritters.

They are mother, father, and my brother. My father and my brother are peeling some squash to be made as squash balls.

He is using spoon to scoop and clean the unnecessary parts of the squash.

And these are the sliced and peeled squash. They are ready to be grated to make squash balls.

- Second step, WASHING.

We went on a poso (water pump) area to wash all of those eliminated seeds of squash. We also removed the unnecessary parts of squash left on the seeds.

- Third, the last step is DRYING.

This summer is the time for drying products. And well, drying our squash seeds was timely.

Those dried seeds have purpose.

These can be pan-fried and can be eaten, just peel the seed shell and exert the inner content which is the eaten one. Just like the sunflower, watermelon seed and etc.
Here in the Philippines, there's a squash seed product and that is the dragon sid. Have you already tried to eat squash seeds?

I suggest, you should try some. They taste like peanut and they also contain their own natural oil. And that oil made them tasty. The fats are healthy because it is unsaturated. And like nuts, these seeds contains protein. So, prefer to eat healthy snacks like these seeds.

This seed may be a good food to choose when you are bored and you are free of doing works. This is best for resting/sitting time.

That's all for now, thank you so much for viewing my blog.

Have a good day fellow hivers!
