MEMORIES OF A FUNNY SUMMER DAY

The 6th of July 2014 was a funny & sunny summer Sunday. A great day to spend with friends. If possible, near the sea.

(Enlargeable)

It was a typically hot summer day as well ...

... so I spent most of it in a place called Marlera ...

(Enlargeable)

... and some friends were there with me. They have a prominent role in today's post.

(Enlargeable)

I also took many selfies that day ...

(Enlargeable)

... and I used two different mirrors, one in the bathroom and one in the small entrance hall, for that purpose.

(Enlargeable)

High summer temperatures can make people crazy.

(Enlargeable)

My summer craze manifested itself through exaggerating with selfies.

(Enlargeable)

Marlera is a stretch of coastline a couple of kilometers from the village of Liznjan. Six or seven kilometers from where I live.

The grass was tall and dry there in that period.

I like to walk through that kind of environment.

My friends and I had plenty of fun in Marlera on the 6th of July 2014.

There were five of us but not all ended up in the photographs.

(Enlargeable)

These are all casual shots. Photography wasn't the priority on that occasion.

We had our headquarters among some big rocks that created an environment that resembles a shallow cave.

A great place to call home while you are on the beach.

(Enlargeable)

We didn't have much to eat. Just some tomatoes and a bit of cheese.

(Enlargeable)

But we had booze ...

... weed ...

... and speed.

We had plenty of water too. Fortunately.

(Enlargeable)

You'll see more photographs that show the sea, sea rocks, and the clear blue sky, but now ...

(Enlargeable)

... I would like to present more indoor selfies taken in the morning, before going to the beach.

(Enlargeable)

You'll see some of these shots in the original version. But not many.

(Enlargeable)

I used Photoshop most of the time to give a bit of color and trippiness to the whole thing.

(Enlargeable)

The pre-beach selfies are old, but ...

(Enlargeable)

... but the colorful edits are a brand new thing ...

(Enlargeable)

... created late last night.

(Enlargeable)

With the following photograph ...

... I'm outdoors again.

(Enlargeable)

Near the sea.

(Enlargeable)

In the place called Marlera.

Waves and tides always bring plenty of driftwood to the shore.

In this shot, a small bottle is hidden among that plant material. Only the bottle cap is visible.

Here you can see a friend of mine working on some construction or some kind of sculpture made of stones and bigger pieces of driftwood.

A surprising abundance of shoes can be found in some places along the shore. Some of them are brought by the sea, others were left by people who enjoy the summer on the beach.

(Enlargeable)

You can find a nice diversity of shapes and sizes among the driftwood of Marlera.

Gere you can take a quick look at some ordinary coastal rocks from that area. And now ...

(Enlargeable)

... something completely different. This is a scene from the general hospital. The photograph was taken late in the morning in the city of Pula. On the ground floor of the biggest hospital in the region.

This evening shot was taken in Marlera. In the following photograph ...

... you can see me in yet another indoor selfie. This one was taken in collaboration with the bathroom mirror.

Here you can take a quick look at one of the guests in the guest room in my house.

This is a kitchen shot. Yep. Believe it or not.

At some point, someone ate some eggs.

Three chicken eggs precisely. According to the top result of a Google search, one boiled egg has 155 calories. Do with that information whatever you want. Me, I'm just gonna forget it.

We had a more elaborate meal for dinner.

(Enlargeable)

I had plenty of fun in the yard that night ...

(Enlargeable)

... pretending to be some kind of superhero with a red cape and black hat.

At some point, we drove to the isolated beach bar a couple of kilometers from the village of Shishan, about seven or eight kilometers from Medulin, my hometown.

We had some fun there too. We had a drink or two as well.

In this tryptich, you can see another set of midday selfies taken while getting ready for the beach.

(Enlargeable)

This is Marlera again.

Here you can see the beautiful natural colors of that highly enchanted coastal place.

I don't know what to say here. Just another person on the rocks for you to watch.

(Enlargeable)

The human figure can look pretty cool on the coastal rocks.

(Enlargeable)

Nothing special here. Just another set of bathroom selfies.

(Enlargeable)

Here you can see me smoking and resting in the frame of the door.

(Enlargeable)

These two shots were taken on the 6th of July 2014 inside my car parked near the sea. Late last night, they were changed in Photoshop. You won't see the originals in today's post.

Here you can see another funny shot from Marlera.

This black & white portrait is pretty cool. Not very good, but pretty cool - yes. In my opinion.

Here you can admire a very bad midnight selfie. The thing is grainy & muddled. The resolution is awful.

(Enlargeable)

If you put a sea urchin in your hand, the spiky creature will soon use its many small tube feet to attach itself to your skin. Here you can see a photograph that illustrates the situation I described in the previous sentence.

And that's it.

(Enlargeable)

The post is almost over.

(Enlargeable)

AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK. THE END.
