The story of Claire Beauchamp Randall, begins in 1945, at the end of the Second World War, in England, a nurse married to historian Frank Randall, when the Second World War ends, they decide to go on honeymoon to Scotland. Specifically in Inverness, a place full of legends and stories. Claire explores the place, while Frank researches about his ancestor, a captain in the English army, and a trip to the stones called Craigh na Dun, which form a circle, makes Claire begin to feel interested. When they learn of a ceremony occurring there, performed by the locals, they decide to go and spy on Frank and Claire.
When Claire returns the next day in search of a plant, what she did not expect happens, she begins to hear a buzzing sound coming from the stones, which attracts her, but when she touches it, the real journey of our protagonist begins.
Waking up in the same circle of stones, disoriented, and changed the environment, when she hears noises and meets a man just like her husband, but dressed in a red coat, she realizes that she is no longer in the twentieth century, but in the eighteenth century Scotland. That's just the beginning of Claire's journey back in time, where her life is turned upside down. And she meets Black Randall, better known as her husband's ancestor.
And she is forced to make choices to survive. And she meets Jamie Fraser, a young red-haired warrior. Who will be our other protagonist.
Stranger is about the battle of Culloden, where the followers of Prince Charles Stuart, fight the last battle against King George II, that is the supporters of the house of Hanover. And they called themselves the followers of Charles Stuart, Jacobites. A battle occurred in the year 1745. Where died more than 1,500 highlanders, trying to fight for Prince Charles, who wanted the British throne. Which changed Scotland forever, because laws were created that eliminated the feudal system of the clans, bagpipes and traditional dress (Kilt and tartan) all declared illegal.
The Scots said goodbye to their traditions for more than a century of everything that made them or made them Highlanders. And the story of Stranger, delves into this historical fact, and other places like France, Jamaica, and even the USA.
Claire is a female protagonist, very brave, intelligent, with character, boldness and perseverance, also strong. She seeks to change the medicine of the past with her knowledge and experiments. As well as protect and change the history she already knows.
Jamie is a masculine character, warrior, brave, kind, risk-taking, loving, and masculine in every aspect. A man who tries to protect Claire, but who knows how to protect himself and has his own plans and ideas.
There are many characters that arrive, are maintained throughout the book saga or the series, but who, without a doubt, are deep in their own story and touch your heart. Even the villain, causes you sadness. Diana Gabaldon created complex, deep and complete characters, that show you the reality of that time, and history from a raw point of view.
The other books are called:

  • Trapped in Time
  • Traveler
  • Drums of Autumn
  • The Burning Cross
  • Wind and Ashes
  • Echoes of the past
  • Written in my heart's blood
And the next one is called "Go Tell the Bees I'm Gone". Which has a publication date for November of this year.
If you want to have an adventure without leaving home, interpret yourself in these books or in the series, which has a 90% similarity with the books. And it already has 5 seasons. I hope you like my recommendation or know someone who might be interested in history, romance and adventure.
You won't be bored with this story and no doubt, you will want to know more about Claire and Jamie Fraser.
Thank you for reading my review, I look forward to your comments.
