Super Duper Hunt for S

The week the hunt is on for six words that begin with S. It is a popular letter in the English language and I tripled up on a few S choices.

SPIDER/SPIED/SPINNING

I Spied a magnificent garden Spider Spinning a web on the cedar tree by the front deck.

The spider must be double jointed- he is upside down but able to focus two little eyes on me as I take the photo.

I like to see spiders around- they are beneficial and kill a lot of pests, such as, roaches, earwigs, flies and mosquitoes.

SNEAKERS/SHOES/SKECHERS

Skechers is a popular brand of Shoes This is my pair of Skecher Sneakers.

SKUNK/STINKER/SMELL

Peppy the friendly Skunk who visited me during the summer. Skunks have the reputation of being little Stinkers as they can spray an offensive odor when threatened.

He is Smelling a wild flower in the back yard.

SQUIRREL/SASSY/SCOLD

Most squirrel are Sassy and will Scold anyone who invades their territory.

Tiny, the pregnant squirrel, checks out the back deck railing to see what peanuts were left out for her.

SALSA DIP/SIMPLY/SCRUMPTIOUS

Whenever I crave a little spice in my food, I often mix up a dip for the Tostito chips with whatever I have on hand, such as, finely chopped onions, peppers, tomatoes, celery and a cup of this store-bought Salsa. Add salt, pepper, cumin and red pepper spices.

Cumin is a spice I started using after reading foodie posts by @anggreklestari.

There are three steps to put it all together:

1.Using a glass pie plate, line the bottom with a combination of sour cream and softened cream cheese.

2.Then add the above veggie salsa mixture.

3.Finish off by sprinkling the top generously with grated cheddar cheese.

The Tostito chips are used to scoop up the dip. It’s a Simply Scrumptious treat if you are having company or a tasty snack anytime. I’ve made this dish of dip with cooked ground hamburger added to the veggies but I prefer it without.
