Hello, Friends!

Going back to April 2019, I stumbled upon photos I took when we brought our son back home after he finished his first year away at college. We prefer to rent vehicles for our long trips to avoid putting extra miles and wear and tear on our older cars. For this particular occasion, we needed the extra room an extended cab truck provided to haul back all of our son's personal items from his dorm room in one eight-hour trip.

The long drive back from Columbus, Ohio had us traveling through Indiana, Illinois, and finally Missouri. The late April weather "up North" was chilly, extremely windy and rainy along the return ride.

We had to stop several times along the trek home to adjust belongings that shifted after hitting potholes and bumpy patches as well as to tie down the tarp flapping in the wind. (Indiana's highways are especially rough and I suggest avoiding them if at all possible!)

When we finally got a lucky break of sunny weather we pulled over to a rest area and used whatever roping we brought along to tie down all the wind damaged covers as best as we could.

I couldn't help myself from chuckling and thinking how we looked like the Clampetts from "The Beverly Hillbillies" with our overloaded, rigged truck! Clampetts

Yes, those are black plastic trash bags you see underneath. We learned a long time ago to keep everything as waterproofed as possible - just in case!
