| В недавней поездке по Беларуси на первые майские праздники 2024 года мы заезжали в колоритный город Бобруйск. На одном из перекрестков я увидела вот такой набор указателей в самые разные точки планеты. | On a recent trip around Belarus on the first May holidays of 2024, we stopped in the colorful city of Bobruisk. At one of the intersections I saw this set of signs to various points on the planet. |
| В данном случае к месту получилось искажение при фотографировании, когда по краям кадра здания наклоняются к центру. Подчеркивается, что вот он – центр мира, от которого измеряются расстояния. | In this case, distortion in photography looks appropriate when buildings at the edges of the frame lean towards the center. It is emphasized that this is the center of the world from which distances are measured. |
| В царской России здесь проходила черта оседлости, и Бобруйск был по большей части еврейским городом (по одной из оценок более 65% населения). Такое положение сохранялось и при СССР. Но в 80-е годы 20 века появилась возможность уехать, туда, где казалось лучше. И они уехали. Сейчас примерно 1%. (Я не перепроверяла. Это то, что экскурсовод рассказала). | In Tsarist Russia, the Pale of Settlement passed here, and Bobruisk was mostly a Jewish city (according to one estimate, more than 65% of the population). This situation continued under the USSR. But in the 80s of the 20th century, the opportunity arose to leave where it seemed better. And they left. Now it's about 1%. (I didn’t double-check. | Столб с указателями изготовлен капитально, отлит из чугуна на Бобруйском машиностроительном заводе. Указанные в надписях расстояния измерены по прямой дуге земного эллипсоида без учета рельефа до географических центров населенных пунктов. | The signpost was cast from cast iron at the Bobruisk Machine-Building Plant. The distances indicated in the inscriptions are measured along the straight arc of the earth's ellipsoid without taking into account the relief to the geographic centers of populated areas. |

| А установлен знак рядом с достопримечательностью Бобруйска – бывшей водонапорной башней. Сейчас в ней известный ресторан. Но у нас был групповой автобусный тур, так что в ресторан зайти шанса не было. | A sign was installed next to the landmark of Bobruisk - the former water tower. Now it houses a famous restaurant. But we had a group bus tour, so there was no chance to go to the restaurant. |

| Там же на углу есть ещё и памятник герою романа «Золотой теленок» Шуре Балаганову. В популярном советском фильме по роману Ильфа и Петрова этого героя сыграл замечательный артист Леонид Куравлев. Именно этот образ воплотил скульптор. Конечно, тут же выстроилась очередь, чтобы сфотографироваться с Шурой Балагановым. | There is also a monument to the hero of the novel “The Golden Calf” Shura Balaganov on the corner. In the popular Soviet film based on the novel by Ilf and Petrov, this hero was played by the wonderful artist Leonid Kuravlev. It was this image that the sculptor embodied. Of course, a line immediately lined up to take a photo with Shura Balaganov. |
