The Raid

It was some few minutes past four when a van filled with armed men drove into the school campus. The rooster hadn't even crowed yet as they quietly parked the van. The whole place was dead silent as the uniformed men all stepped out of the vehicle.

This was their modus operandi, they always came this early to make sure their suspect didn't get a chance to make a run for it. The early birds who had woken up were shocked to see men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at that particular building.

Not because there was something special about the building but because the building was mostly occupied by students who attended house fellowships to preach the word of God.

Everyone knew the EFCC mostly investigated cases that had to do with internet fraud so they were definitely at the wrong building. They also knew that the EFCC needed a court issued search warrant to be able to search any building especially at four in the morning, but no one could question the men with guns. One bullet was all it took for you to lose your life and then the newspaper would label you a cultists because that is what the EFCC would ask them to do.

So no one said anything. They all just did as they were told, and forty five minutes later, the men were all matching out of the building and into their van.

One of the students who had been rudely woken up from his beauty sleep and had his room ransacked, peeped from his window as he watched the men with disgust.

“I knew they wouldn't find anyt...” The student was saying but stopped in mid sentence when he noticed that the armed men weren't the only one entering the van, they had with them Femi, a student pastor who they had placed on handcuff. Aside from the boxer and singlet Femi had on, he was also holding his laptop as he entered the van. The student watched as another person approached the armed men and asked what offence pastor Femi had committed.

“This fraudster is a pastor?” one of the uniformed men asked. “He recently defrauded someone but unfortunately for him, we traced his IP address. If you want any more info, you will have to follow us”. The uniformed man said and watched the man for a response. When it was obvious that he wasn't ready to follow them, he signaled to the driver to drive off as he immediately slammed the door shut.
