[ESP / ING] ACCESORIOS PARA EL VINO // WINE ACCESSORIES

BIENVENIDOS !!

WELCOME !!

Good morning dear community, today I want to share with you my visit and wine tasting at one of the distributing wineries here in Portugal. Thanks to my knowledge in tasting, I was invited by this winery to do a blind tasting of their five best wines. There are myths about wine that are not really true, some say that wine is drunk at room temperature, it is false, depending on the wine, they have the appropriate temperature for their drink, saying that the older the wine is, the better it is false, the wines have their own time and how fruit is fermented and that the most expensive wine is the best for me is false the best wine is the one you like and there have been blind tastings where very cheap or young wines have been chosen over the reserve ones.

The first thing we must do when we open a bottle of wine is to remove the safety capsule and it is done through the front and upper part of the neck and avoid possible contamination with impurities of powder or metallic remains, for that we use the cutter. I suspect that a knife generally comes with the cork puller to remove it, and a special accessory also comes with it to remove it as shown in the images below.

Once the seal is removed, we proceed to uncork the bottle with the corkscrew, as its name indicates, it is used to uncover the bottles. There are one or two strokes (the strokes refer to two parts: one that hooks into the cork and another that is used to extract it, this favors the physics of levers and allows the wine to be opened with little effort and without damage, today in Today this procedure is more practical because the electric corkscrew has already been invented that without much effort manages to do the job.

Now we place the anti-drip ring, many will say that it is that, well it is a recent and more aesthetic invention, it simply prevents the drop that spills from the bottle from staining the wine label, its shape is metallic and inside it is covered with an adsorbent filter, It is rarely used but if you have been served wine in restaurants you will notice that the waiter covers the bottle with a cloth napkin to prevent dripping, which is originally how it was served.

Wine Pourer or Droplet is placed on the spout of the bottle when serving the wine, whose function is to prevent the wine drops from sliding down the bottle and staining or spilling the wine, contributing to the oxygenation of the wine. allowing the circulation of air microbubbles as they fall towards the glass. Some bring the cork that is used to store the wine for about three more days.

Finally, the microaerator and the decanter. I have both using the microaerator with young wines and I use the decanter on wines that have been in barrels, either because they are aged and must be oxygenated before serving; or because they have an important structure and have not been filtered. This means that before serving it, it is transferred to another container where the solid residue can be decanted and drunk without unpleasant sensations, especially for those who do not have a certain wine culture..
