It's a beautiful day, and I will like to share with us the making process of this gorgeous lace blouse with a uniquely designed flare sleeves.

Sewing has been more than a passion to me, it's more therapeutic, when I'm working on a new design, it gives me a form of serenity through the process, and takes away all my worried thoughts.

This blouse is a unique one mostly worn by African mothers and young ladies with a wrapper beneath, for different occasions, mostly weddings, church, dedication or any traditional ceremony.

Without further ado, let's get into the making process. And I hope you enjoy the process as I did too.

The making process

Materials/tools used

organza fabric

  • Lace fabric
  • Satin fabric
  • white cotton lining
  • zipper
  • matching thread
  • organza fabric,
  • scissors, sewing machine, and tape rule.
  • Starting, I drafted the blouse pattern using a bustier pattern for both front and back and replicated them on the lace and satin fabric.

front pattern

back pattern

  • I joined the front patterns together

  • And also joined the back patterns together

  • I joined both the front and back together after turning it with the lining fabric.
  • Next, I drafted the sleeves
patterns, which consist of a basic sleeve pattern, and a double flare.
  • For the first flare, I used the lace fabric with the satin as it's base, then turned it with a cotton lining fabric.
  • And for the second step flare, I cut out long strips of organza fabrics, with a width of 4.5 inches, placed it on fold, and pleated it round the flare.

After which I joined the both flares together and attached them to the main bodice.

My beautifully designed blouse is ready.
