Studio Ceiling Insulation - Monday

Woke up to a light layer of snow, only a little over an inch that pretty quickly began to melt off. I took R to preschool and after picking him up I spent time in the studio.

I had to make room to move the scaffold around and to open the bag of insulation. I set the scaffold at its lowest level which was still a bit too high for me but I made it work. It was still easier than a ladder.

Nicely the pieces of the r30 are 48 inches long so I did not have to cut any of the ones I installed during the day. That will be for today. I was able to shove each piece between the rafters and staple them all in place.

I did the lowest portion of it first and got all 10 pieces in place. I was able to tell the difference already with just the first row in, the little heater was doing a good job of warming the studio..

I had to shovel things around the inside again to make room to move the scaffold to the high side where it was much easier to install than the lower since I wasn't having to hunch over. I chose to do the upper and lower sections first since I needed to shove the end of each piece into the cavity on each end. This way I will cut my smaller pieces and fit them in the middle.

I have both rows of insulation tacked up into place and it really changes the acoustics inside. The insulation now deadens the sound but yet it reflects off the sheet rock wall. It really plays with the senses hearing the varying sound returns.

I have a sore throat now as i didn't wear a mask so likely inhaled some fiberglass. I had the tickle in my nose afterwards and now the soreness where my nose and throat meet. I have a date with the netti pot today.

I got through over 2k words and am now only 6400 words from the 50,000 I need for #NaNoWriMo. I am hoping to be past it before Thursday.

Today R has school again and I need to try and get the center section of insulation installed. I get my rj45 crimpers so I will be re-terminating every cat5 cable around the farm to try and get solid signals and less loss. I'm also getting the extension cable to properly run the cb antenna wire into the house. I ordered the new big boy mattress for R which won't be here till next week sometime at which point I will need to build his bed frame so both boys will have similar beds.
