The idea of this contest is to summarize the experience each Hiver has had in this platform, in order to encourage people who don't know anything about Hive to come here and hopefully become new active Hivers. The material produced for this contest can also be used as proof that the idea behind Hive does work and social media platforms can indeed be successfully monetized with the use of cryptocurrencies. In other words, proof of brain can be a valid concept.
Without further ago, I will now proceed to answer the 4 questions from the announcement post:
What is Hive?
Hive is a decentralized social media platform where the content is monetized not with native ads as is usually the case with traditional social media platforms, but through the use of its native cryptocurrency which is issued and assigned based on the weighted votes that each user receives. Each Hiver is free to post high-quality original content and engage with like-minded users with the goal of creating organic and sustainable growth.
Hive has communities that cover all types of topics, and most likely, every Hiver can find at least 1 community that's compatible with his/her likes. You can find the complete lists of communities here and some of them even have their own community token and front end, which is basically a filtered version of Hive where only posts from that community are shown.
Besides communities, Hive can also serve as the blockchain powering decentralized applications (dapps) which can consist of videogames such as @splinterlands, to censorship-resistant video platforms such as @threespeak, and there is even a fitness app called @actifit that rewards users with its own token for staying fit using its app. You can find more Hive dapps on this page.
All of this results in plenty of content creation opportunities for every user as well as good chances of interacting with cooperative people that share the same goals, plans, interests, and the like. As the popularity of Hive keeps growing, the same can be said about the quality of its content. Ultimately, Hive can become the blockchain that powers leading portals/dapps of any topic you can imagine. Tokenization of social media content is the new paradigm and Hive is leading the way.
La idea de este concurso es resumir la experiencia que cada Hiver ha tenido en esta plataforma, con el fin de animar a las personas que no saben nada sobre Hive a venir aquí y, con suerte, convertirse en nuevos Hiver activos. El material producido para este concurso también se puede utilizar como prueba de que la idea detrás de Hive funciona y que las plataformas de redes sociales se pueden monetizar con éxito con el uso de criptomonedas. En otras palabras, el "proof of brain" puede ser un concepto válido.

¿Qué es Hive?
Hive es una plataforma de redes sociales descentralizada donde el contenido se monetiza no con anuncios nativos como suele ser el caso de las plataformas de redes sociales tradicionales, sino mediante el uso de su criptomoneda nativa que se emite y distribuye en función de los votos ponderados que recibe cada usuario. Cada Hiver es libre de publicar contenido original de alta calidad e interactuar con usuarios de ideas afines con el objetivo de crear un crecimiento orgánico y sostenible.
Hive tiene comunidades que cubren todo tipo de temas, y lo más probable es que cada Hiver pueda encontrar al menos 1 comunidad que sea compatible con sus gustos. Puede encontrar las listas completas de comunidades aquí y algunas de ellas incluso tienen su propio token de comunidad y su interfaz, que es básicamente una versión filtrada de Hive donde solo se publican publicaciones de esa comunidad.

How did I learn about Hive?
I first read about the cryptocurrency boom in the summer of 2017. There was a user who made a lengthy post about this industry in a forum I used to read at the time, and the topic interested me although I didn't know how to get involved. At that time, I didn't know a platform like Hive could exist. Many months later, around November/December of 2017, I read a Twitter user discussing a social platform that used cryptocurrencies as the mechanism of monetization. I have been participating in forums all of my life so this seemed cool. I sent a message to this user and he explained to me how this type of platform worked. This user is the Hiver @jonsnow1983! So basically, it was just a random tweet from him that picked my interest.
If you noticed the year I mentioned it was 2017, which is before Hive's creation in 2020, so what I discovered at that time was the previous blockchain before the Hive fork took place. Once the fork happened, I think all active users knew about Hive the moment it came into existence, and I decided to keep producing my content on the new hard fork because this is where the authentic, organic and original communities reside.
¿Cómo me enteré de Hive?
Leí por primera vez sobre el boom de las criptomonedas en el verano de 2017. Hubo un usuario que hizo una publicación extensa sobre esta industria en un foro que solía leer en ese momento, y el tema me interesó, aunque no sabía cómo involucrarme. En ese momento, no sabía que podía existir una plataforma como Hive. Muchos meses después, alrededor de noviembre/diciembre de 2017, leí a un usuario de Twitter hablando de una plataforma social que usaba criptomonedas como mecanismo de monetización. He estado participando en foros toda mi vida, así que me pareció genial. Le envié un mensaje a este usuario y me explicó cómo funcionaba este tipo de plataforma. Este usuario es el Hiver @jonsnow1983! Básicamente, fue solo un tweet al azar de él lo que me llamó la atención.
Si notas el año que mencioné que era 2017, es antes de la creación de Hive en 2020, entonces lo que descubrí en ese momento fue la cadena de bloques anterior antes de que se realizara la bifurcación de Hive. Una vez que ocurrió la bifurcación, creo que todos los usuarios activos sabían sobre Hive en el momento en que nació, y decidí seguir produciendo mi contenido en la nueva bifurcación porque aquí es donde residen las comunidades auténticas, orgánicas y originales.
What were my doubts when I joined Hive?
When I first discovered this type of platform, my main doubt was how likely it was going to be for me to get my content noticed. I guess this is something that worries most users when they just arrive at a new platform. Since the beginning, I knew I would have to put in a lot of work and effort on a consistent basis and that's the reason for my username. I had doubts about how to format my posts, which topic I could write about, and how to manage everything related to my account. I guess I can say I was a total noob at the beginning.
On a similar note, since this is a platform that uses cryptocurrencies, I was also a bit worried for a while about the sustainability of its crypto economy. This doubt began to appear at some point in 2018 when the bull run ended and all cryptos began to collapse rapidly. I was still new to everything crypto and watching most values collapse wasn't good. However, I understood the potential for this type of technology and was sure that better times would eventually come. So I kept myself active and learning more about everything crypto.
Then, in 2020 when the hard fork happened, I had doubts once again. A new group of people was taking over the blockchain and they did it in a hostile manner. I didn't know if the platform could survive so many differences between its members and the new owners, and if that wasn't enough, the COVID pandemic was starting which also caused crypto values to collapse for a few weeks. I was hoping for crypto values to actually go up, and this is what happened later on but the short-term collapse was something I didn't expect. Nevertheless, the Hive hard-fork was put in place which left the hostile new owners completely excluded and I had high hopes again about the future of this platform.
¿Cuáles eran mis dudas cuando me uní a Hive?
Cuando descubrí por primera vez este tipo de plataforma, mi principal duda era la probabilidad de que cuenta de mi contenido fuese tomado en cuenta. Supongo que esto es algo que preocupa a la mayoría de los usuarios cuando recién llegan a una nueva plataforma. Desde el principio, supe que tendría que poner mucho trabajo y esfuerzo de manera constante y esa es la razón de mi nombre de usuario. Tenía dudas sobre cómo dar formato a mis publicaciones, sobre qué tema podría escribir y cómo administrar todo lo relacionado con mi cuenta. Supongo que puedo decir que era un novato al principio.
En una nota similar, dado que esta es una plataforma que usa criptomonedas, también estuve un poco preocupado por un tiempo por la sustentabilidad de su economía. Esta duda comenzó a aparecer en algún momento de 2018 cuando terminó el mercado alcista y todas las criptomonedas comenzaron a colapsar rápidamente. Todavía era nuevo en todo lo relacionado con las criptomonedas y ver el colapso de la mayoría de los tokens no fue bueno. Sin embargo, entendí el potencial de este tipo de tecnología y estaba seguro de que llegarían tiempos mejores. Así que me mantuve activo y aprendí más sobre todo lo relacionado con las criptomonedas.
Luego, en 2020, cuando ocurrió el hard fork, volví a tener dudas. Un nuevo grupo de personas se estaba apoderando de la cadena de bloques anterior y lo hicieron de manera hostil. No sabía si la plataforma podría sobrevivir a tantas diferencias entre sus miembros y los nuevos propietarios, y si eso no fuera suficiente, la pandemia de COVID estaba comenzando, lo que también provocó el colapso de los valores criptográficos durante algunas semanas. Esperaba que los valores criptográficos realmente aumentaran, y esto es lo que sucedió más tarde, pero el colapso a corto plazo fue algo que no esperaba. What has been my experience so far?
My experience has been amazing so far. I have been able to participate in a lot of different projects and communities. One of the earliest projects I participated in was called Utopian, it is now inactive and consisted of making contributions to all sorts of open source projects. Another early project was called Oracle-d although later on it was renamed Yoodoo, and just like Utopian it is also inactive nowadays. Oracle-d consisted of researching different crypto projects and creating original content about them. I learned how to make infographics, simple animated videos, and how to properly research crypto startups thanks to this project.
More recently and with the proliferation of all types of communities, I have been actively participating in several of them. Communities allow Hivers even more freedom because as I mentioned before, there is a community for pretty much everything you can think of. So every Hiver will certainly feel very comfortable with at least one community and probably with much more than just one. Hive for me has also been a place where I can learn from other people's content. I have learned a lot about crypto for example by constantly reading the content of knowledgeable people.
Hive has also been a big help in overcoming the troubled economic situation in Venezuela. Being able to buy groceries thanks to Hive has been a blessing!

¿Cuál ha sido mi experiencia hasta ahora?
Mi experiencia ha sido asombrosa hasta ahora. He podido participar en muchos proyectos y comunidades diferentes. Uno de los primeros proyectos en los que participé se llamó Utopian, ahora está inactivo y consistió en hacer contribuciones a todo tipo de proyectos de código abierto. Otro proyecto se llamó Oracle-d, aunque más tarde pasó a llamarse Yoodoo, y al igual que Utopian, también está inactivo hoy en día. Oracle-d consistió en investigar diferentes proyectos crypto y crear contenido original sobre ellos. Aprendí cómo hacer infografías, videos animados simples y cómo investigar adecuadamente las startups de crypto gracias a este proyecto.
Más recientemente y con la proliferación de todo tipo de comunidades, he estado participando activamente en varias de ellas. Las comunidades permiten a Hivers aún más libertad porque, como mencioné antes, hay una comunidad para prácticamente todo lo que se pueda imaginar. Por lo tanto, todos los Hiver se sentirán muy cómodos con al menos una comunidad y probablemente con mucho más de una. Para mí, Hive también ha sido un lugar donde puedo aprender del contenido de otras personas. He aprendido mucho sobre las crypto en general, por ejemplo, leyendo constantemente el contenido de personas que saben más.
Hive también ha sido de gran ayuda para superar la problemática situación económica en Venezuela. ¡Poder comprar alimentos gracias a Hive ha sido una bendición!
