Una introducción necesaria
Sucede que se realizaba la final de la Liga Superior de Baloncesto y sería trasmitida por la televisión cubana. Esta es una de las competiciones más seguida por mí en Cuba y el juego por el trofeo dorado se realizaría en mi provincia. Lo que no sabía es que una sorpresa estaba por llegar a mi vida.
En esta publicación contaré la experiencia que tuve en la final de la Liga Superior de Baloncesto en la que logré cumplir uno de mis sueños más anhelados.
La final de la Liga Superior de Baloncesto
La final de la Liga Superior de Baloncesto de Cuba se realizó entre los equipos de Industriales y Santiago de Cuba. Cada competición deportiva de nuestro país que enfrenta a estos equipos polariza a todo el país en dos bandos porque son las potencias deportivas de Occidente y Oriente.
Dos maneras de ver este partido final
Cuando inició el partido me encontraba en la grada de la instalación deportiva. Me encontraba entre las dos aficiones porque, aunque Industriales representa a la capital del país y es el lugar donde vivo, Santiago de Cuba es la provincia que representa al oriente de la nación y yo nací en esta región del país.
Fue un primer tiempo muy intenso en el que los dos equipos se entregaron en pos de alcanzar la victoria. Los del oriente del país impusieron su sistema de juego y con un marcaje personal y puntería desde los tres puntos de anotación dominaron el primer cuarto. Sin embargo, en la medida que avanzó el juego los de la capital del país acudieron a su mejor sistema de juego, calidad individual de sus jugadores y empezaron a revertir el resultado lo que al finalizar el segundo cuarto y la primera mitad ya les daba una ventaja que no perderían jamás y que a la postre los coronaría como los Campeones de la Liga Superior del Baloncesto Cubano del 2023.
Lo que no sabía era que mientras esto ocurría mi rostro era tomado una y otra vez por las cámaras de la televisión deportiva cubana y comenzaba a recibir llamadas. El primero que lo hizo fue mi hermano. Pensé que era adivino porque me dijo cómo estaba vestido y lo bien que me quedaba la vestimenta que usan los Golden State Warriors. Al preguntarle cómo sabía mi vestuario me dijo que me estaban poniendo en la final del juego de baloncesto. También me llamaron amistades de otras partes del país diciéndome que estaba en la televisión.
Segundo tiempo: Sueño cumplido
En el segundo tiempo recibí una llamada de Alejandro Lazo. Este es Director Deportivo de la Televisión Cubana y le había comentado cómo me gustaría estar en una cabina de dirección en la televisión.
Cuando Alex Lazo me dijo que viniera a la cabina de televisión, para dirigir con él el segundo tiempo y final de la Liga Superior de Baloncesto no lo podía creer. Me dijo que en el primer tiempo me había visto en las gradas y les decía a los camarógrafos que me pasaran por la televisión de manera repetida y decidió cumplir mi sueño en el segundo tiempo.
Cuando comenzó la parte final del juego yo me encontraba entre equipos de televisión, coordinador de programa y el director de la televisión para el deporte. Me enseñaron cómo funciona cada una de las partes de la trasmisión deportiva y los elementos que hay que atender para que los espectadores tengan los elementos más importantes que ocurren en el partido.
Pude tener acceso a los narradores deportivos, trofeos, jugadores de uno y otro equipo y a todo el andamiaje televisivo que una trasmisión deportiva arrastra.
Cuando finalizó el partido le pedí a Alex Lazo que me llevara con estos locutores para tirarme una foto con ellos y tenerlas para mí, como regalo de vida.
Un comentario final
El 2023 quedará en mi vida, como el año en el que logré hacer televisión y ser codirector de la final de un evento deportivo en Cuba. Esta es otra de las satisfacciones que me ha dado la vida que demuestra que, a pesar de los golpes recibidos se tiene que seguir luchando para alcanzar los sueños y los objetivos.

Achieving a goal or fulfilling a project is one of the most beautiful pleasures in life and at the same time very gratifying. I say this because I was able to fulfill one of my dreams and carry out an activity that I had long cherished. But, the satisfaction was greater because I combined this activity with a sporting event.
It happened that the final of the Superior Basketball League was taking place and it would be broadcasted on Cuban television. This is one of the most followed competitions by me in Cuba and the game for the golden trophy would take place in my province. What I did not know was that a surprise was about to come into my life.
In this publication I will tell the experience I had in the final of the Superior Basketball League in which I managed to fulfill one of my most cherished dreams.
The final of the Superior Basketball League
The final of the Superior Basketball League of Cuba took place between the Industriales and Santiago de Cuba teams. Every sporting competition in our country that pits these teams against each other polarizes the whole country into two camps because they are the sporting powers of the West and the East.
Two ways of watching this final match
When the game started, I was in the stands of the sports facility. I was between the two fans because, although Industriales represents the capital of the country and is the place where I live, Santiago de Cuba is the province that represents the eastern part of the nation and I was born in this region of the country.
It was a very intense first half in which both teams gave their all in pursuit of victory. The eastern side of the country imposed their system of play and dominated the first quarter with personal scoring and three-point shooting. However, as the game progressed, those from the capital of the country turned to their best system of play, individual quality of their players and began to reverse the result which at the end of the second quarter and the first half already gave them an advantage that they would never lose and that would eventually crown them as the Champions of the Superior League of Cuban Basketball 2023.
What I did not know was that while this was happening my face was taken over and over again by the cameras of Cuban sports television and I began to receive calls. The first one to do so was my brother. I thought he was a fortune teller because he told me how I was dressed and how well my Golden State Warriors outfit looked on me. When I asked him how he knew my wardrobe he told me they were putting me in the finals of the basketball game. I also got calls from friends from other parts of the country telling me I was on TV.
Second half: Dream fulfilled
In the second half I received a call from Alejandro Lazo. He is the Sports Director of the Cuban Television and I had told him how I would like to be in a TV management booth.
When Alex Lazo told me to come to the TV booth, to direct with him the second half and final of the Superior Basketball League, I could not believe it. He told me that in the first half he had seen me in the stands and told the cameramen to pass me on TV repeatedly and decided to fulfill my dream in the second half.
When the final part of the game started I was between TV crews, program coordinator and the TV director for the sport. I was shown how each part of the sports broadcast works and the elements that need to be taken care of so that the viewers have the most important elements that happen in the game.
I was able to have access to the sports narrators, trophies, players from both teams and all the television scaffolding that a sports broadcast entails.
When the game was over, I asked Alex Lazo to take me with these announcers to take a picture with them and keep them for myself, as a gift of life.
A final comment
The year 2023 will remain in my life as the year in which I managed to do television and be co-director of the final of a sporting event in Cuba. This is another of the satisfactions that life has given me that shows that, despite the blows received, you have to keep fighting to achieve your dreams and goals.
