Y es que lo ocurrido este domingo en las Grandes Ligas del Béisbol de los Estados Unidos merece, al menos, una publicación, para poner en contacto lo sucedido y la importancia del hecho acontecido ese día que tiene muy contento a todos los cubanos porque demuestra la calidad de nuestros peloteros jugando en el mejor béisbol del mundo.
A partir de lo anterior, este autor quiere expresar sus consideraciones en torno a un hecho histórico ocurrido el 2 de julio del 2023, cuando se anunció los jugadores que participarán en el juego de las estrellas y que arrojó un hecho histórico para nuestro país en este tipo de competición: 8 jugadores al Juego de las Estrellas.
Los elegidos
Cuando este 11 de julio se dispute el Juego de las Estrellas el estadio de los Marineros de Seattle T –Mobile Park acogerá a 8 jugadores cubanos.
Nunca antes, en la historia de este tipo de confrontación tantos cubanos habían sido elegidos, para representar los colores de sus equipos en cada una de las ligas de Béisbol de la gran carpa. Buscando en la historia de Cuba, en los Juegos de las Estrellas pude encontrar que desde 1968 databa el récord de más cubanos en juego de Estrellas con 7.
Liga Americana
De los ocho jugadores cubanos elegidos para estar en el Juegos de las Estrellas seis de ellos juegan en esta liga y los dos elegidos para jugar como titulares también están en esta liga. Otro elemento importante es que, de los ocho jugadores, seis juegan por primera vez este tipo de encuentro y dos lo hacen por segunda vez. También, los dos que repiten son de esta liga. Sin más, aquí les dejo los seis que jugarán en esta liga.
Yandy Díaz (Rayos de Tampa Bay)
El inicialista de los Tampa Bay Rays ha tenido una buena campaña ofensiva con su equipo y ha sido pieza clave en el excelente paso que hasta el momento tiene su equipo y que los tiene comandando su liga. No por gusto el voto popular aseguró que fuera uno de los dos titulares de Cuba en este juego de las estrellas. Ojalá pueda demostrar en su primer juego de estrellas la calidad y valía alcanzadas y consolidadas durante esta temporada.
Randy Arozarena (Rayos de Tampa Bay)

El compañero de Yandy Díaz en Tampa se ha convertido en uno de los peloteros más decisivos para los equipos en los que juega. Esta afirmación del autor se debe a los que hace algunas temporadas viene haciendo Arozarena y que tuvo en el V Clásico Mundial su máxima expresión, al ser uno de los mejores jugadores de todo el torneo. Al igual que Yandy partirá como titular y es posible que sea uno de los que tenga un protagonismo manifiesto porque está hecho para momentos como estos.
Yordan Álvarez (Astros de Houston)

Este jugador se ha convertido en pieza clave, dentro de la alineación titular de los actuales campeones de la MLB y en los Houston saben de su calidad y valía. Al igual que en las últimas temporadas está teniendo un gran protagonismo ofensivo y sus batazos de cuatro esquinas más las carreras producidas dan fe de ello. Para Yordan será su segundo juego de estrellas .
Adolis García (Rangers de Texas)

Este es uno de los ocho jugadores cubanos que mejor rendimiento tiene hasta lo que va temporada y sus más de 20 jonrones sólo lo ubican por detrás de Luis Robert Jr., dentro de los que están el Juego de las Estrellas. Además de los jonrones destaca en las carreras producidas, por lo que ha sido un factor clave en el desempeño de su equipo. Al igual que Yordan estará participando en su segundo juego de estrellas.
Luis Robert Jr. (Medias Blancas de Chicago)
Para este autor este es el jugador que mejor rendimiento está teniendo a nivel ofensivo dentro de los ochos elegidos para estar en la fiesta de mitad de temporada. Lo anterior está avalado por los 24 jonrones que exhibe que lo ubican en el top 5 de toda las Grandes Ligas. De igual manera, se ha destacado en average, carreras producidas y en la defensa de los jardines.
Yennier Cano (Orioles de Baltimore)

De los ocho jugadores, solo Yennier Cano es el único lanzador lo que realza su grandeza. En los Orioles sus relevos han sido pieza clave en la actuación y lugar que ostenta su equipo ocupante del segundo lugar, sólo superado por uno de los dos equipos más ganadores de la actual temporada: Los Rayos de Tampa Bay.

Jorge Soler (Marlins de Miami)

El jardinero del equipo de los Marlins se ganó su elección a base de batazos y carreras producidas. De todos los que están aquí es de los tres primeros en jonrones y carreras producidas y es uno de los responsables de la buena actuación de su equipo en lo que va de temporada. Junto al venezolano Luis Arráez han formado una dupla temible y ambos fueron seleccionados para la fiesta de las estrellas.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (Arizona Diamondbacks)
El octavo jugador de esta lista es el menor de una pléyade de jugadores encabezados por su padre Lourdes Gourriel, pero que tiene como referente más cercano a su hermano Yuli Gurriel ganador de dos anillos de Series Mundiales con Houston y que actualmente milita en los Marlins de Miami. La elección de Lourdes para el Juego de las Estrellas estuvo avalada por su desempeño integral dentro del equipo, con destaque especial para su ofensiva.
Un jonrón final
La selección de ocho cubanos para jugar en el Juego de las Estrellas demuestra la calidad que tienen nuestros peloteros y el equipo que podríamos llegar a formar si se dejaran de lados aspectos extradeportivos y mediara la buena voluntad de jugar béisbol.
De los elegidos hay más de uno que está teniendo buenas temporadas desde hace varias campañas y por fin son elegidos para jugar en un encuentro que más allá del resultado, representa un reconocimiento al desempeño deportivo y la buena actuación que tienen los peloteros en la temporada.
Otro elemento importante de esta selección es el hecho de ser Cuba el país que más pelotero presenta en este juego después de los Estados Unidos y por delante de potencias como República Dominicana y Venezuela y que viene a refrendar la calidad del Béisbol latino en las Grandes Ligas y el aporte de sus jugadores al espectáculo.

When the All-Star Game is played this July 11, the Seattle Mariners' T-Mobile Park stadium will host 8 Cuban players.
Never before in the history of this type of confrontation had so many Cubans been chosen to represent the colors of their teams in each of the baseball leagues of the big top. Searching in the history of Cuba, in the All-Star Games I could find that since 1968 the record of more Cubans in the All-Star Game was 7.
American League
Of the eight Cuban players chosen to be in the All-Star Game, six of them play in this league and the two chosen to play as starters are also in this league. Another important element is that, of the eight players, six are playing for the first time in this type of game and two are playing for the second time. Yandy Diaz (Tampa Bay Rays)

Of those selected, there are more than one who have been having good seasons for several seasons and are finally chosen to play in a game that beyond the result, represents a recognition of the sports performance and the good performance of the players during the season.
Another important element of this selection is the fact that Cuba is the country that presents the most players in this game after the United States and ahead of powers such as the Dominican Republic and Venezuela and that comes to endorse the quality of Latin Baseball in Major League Baseball and the contribution of its players to the show.
