A manera de introducción
Lo vivido en el Old Trafford fue una película de suspenso y terror. Y no es que el autor esté buscando un término sensacionalista, pero el primer gol del Barcelona hizo vivir momentos de pánico y tristeza a los ingleses, mientras que tras el empate inglés el terror se apoderó de los barcelonistas por la posible eliminación de una competición europea.

Fue un partido que por momento no tuvo a un claro dominador, pero que las ausencias en el Barcelona unido a la sabia conducción de su técnico y saber interpretar las situaciones de juego les permitió a los ingleses coronarse en esta fase y regalarle una alegría inmensa a su afición que sigue soñando con verlos levantar de nuevo un trofeo en Europa.
Fue un buen partido, pero en la publicación el autor dará as consideraciones sobre las causas de la eliminación del club español y algo que casi siempre se olvida: el protagonismo del director técnico en una victoria que fue compartida porque el equipo llevó a vías de hecho lo que su conductor supo exigirles hacer.

En el partido de ida estos dos equipos se enfrentaron en un partido trepidante que culminó sin un ganador, pero que dejó buen sabor de boca, para ambos conjuntos. También continuaron las buenas actuaciones de estos equipos en sus respectivas ligas.
En España el Barcelona está cómodo en la punta de la liga y apunta a ganar la competición, salvo que ocurra una debacle blaugrana, algo que parece improbable; mientras que el Manchester sigue sumando buenas actuaciones y se encuentra en el tercer lugar de la Premier. En estos momentos ambos equipos están clasificados, para la máxima competición europea del próximo año.
Un detalle que puede favorecer al equipo inglés y está relacionado con los jugadores titulares del Barcelona que no podrán alinear en el encuentro: Pedri y Dembelé lesionados y Gavi por acumulación de tarjetas.
Por el Manchester Ten Hag no podrá contar con Christian Eriksen, Mason Greenwood y Donny van de Beek; aunque estas bajas no tienen el mismo peso que las españolas.

El partido
Primer tiempo
Este tiempo comenzó con el local a punto de mandar al Barcelona a nadar contra corriente. En este inicio del partido hay que decir que otra vez los del Barca tiraron de la grandeza de su portero y evitaron un gol tempranero que los pondría en una situación muy complicada.
De ahí en adelante el Barca le puso pausa al juego rápido que estaba llevando el Manchester y logró equilibrar las acciones, con un Frankie De Jong capitalizando y mandando en el centro del campo.
A pesar de lo anterior hasta el minuto 14 el local se veía mejor en el campo. Pero, en el minuto15 se da una jugada tonta del capitán del Manchester Bruno Fernández en contra de Balde que es castigada con penalti y que es convertido por Robert Lewandoski.
Los siguientes minutos del partido fueron un monólogo, con un Manchester insistente, atacando por todas las bandas y un Barcelona con un buen orden defensivo. Así culminó el primer tiempo, con una victoria parcial de 1 por 0 a favor del Barcelona que los estaba poniendo en cuartos de final, pero faltaba mucha historia todavía.
Segundo tiempo

Los movimientos realizados por el técnico inglés Ten Hag terminado el primer tiempo pusieron de manifiesta la capacidad táctica de este director y por qué el Manchester atraviesa uno de sus mejores momentos de los últimos años.
Cuando se revisa el resultado final uno se da cuenta que no sólo le ganó la partida al técnico español en el juego, también lo aventajó en la concepción táctica. Cuáles fueron estos cambios realizados por el técnico inglés?:
•Metió a Anthony en la cancha
•Puso a Marcus Rashford como 9, demostrando la polivalencia ofensiva de este jugador y la confianza que en él tiene.
•Cambió a Sancho de lado izquierdo al derecho
•Pasó a Bruno Fernández del lado derecho al centro del campo.
Estos cambios tuvieron sus frutos muy rápidos y en el minuto 46 Fred anotó el gol del empate para el United lo que descolocó al Barcelona que no encontró muchas respuestas en lo que restaba del partido.
Los siguientes minutos fueron un solo inglés que buscaba el gol que los pusiera delante y apostaron al guión escrito por su director. Juego rápido, transiciones y pase a sus delanteros más rápidos que ganaban los duelos a un equipo que no encontraba respuesta física ni futbolística ante los ingleses.
Este juego de ida y vuelta favoreció a los ingleses con mejor físico que sus rivales y que sólo tuvieron un susto, cuando en el minuto 63 Koundé estuvo a punto de vencer a De Gea con un cabezazo, pero el portero español que juega para el equipo inglés lo tiró a tiro de esquina.
Este juego tarde o temprano daría sus resultados a los rojos del Manchester y en el minuto 72 uno de los movimientos hecho por Ten Hag dio sus resultados y Anthony adelantó a su equipo, para firmar la eliminación del Barcelona de esta competición europea.

Este juego pudiera definirse como una película de tres partes: En la primera el protagonista fue el Fútbol Club Barcelona, en la segunda el Manchester United y de manera general ganó el fútbol inglés.
Nuevamente el Barca se queda fuera de Europa, otra vez lo despiden de una competición del viejo continente en una cancha inglesa y de nuevo sus aficionados se quedan esperando por ese alegrón europeo que no reciben desde el 2015 cuando ganaron su quinta Liga de Campeones.
Haciendo un resumen del encuentro pudiéramos decir que el Barcelona fue superior, como siempre tuvo dominio del balón, ganó más duelos, hizo más tiros a puertas, tuvo un dominio del centro con un Frankie de Jong dominando los hilos del partido y un Robert Lewandoski que sin estar en su mejor forma anotó el único gol del periodo.
Pero en el segundo tiempo las cosas cambiaron y el Manchester acudió a su calidad futbolística y a su historia. No habían pasado dos minutos de partido y ya Fred les daba el empate. Comenzaba a rondar el fantasma de los partidos de ida del Barcelona y su banca diezmada no parecía darle, para contener la furia de los ingleses.
En la medida que avanzaba el tiempo el Manchester se apoderaba del centro del campo y sencillamente aplastó al Barcelona. No había jugador en la cancha que pudiera levantar al equipo y ni un Lewandoski mejorado ni un Raphinha que estuvo desastroso ni la potencia centrocampista del equipo español pudo evitar lo que se les vino encima.
Cuando Anthony marcó el segundo gol todos sabían que la suerte estaba echada.
Claves de la derrota del Barcelona
•Se vio un equipo con carencia física y esto en un deporte como este es un factor determinante.
•Perdieron el duelo en un sector del campo que ha distinguido a este equipo y que lo ha hecho fuerte (Centro del campo)
•Faltó precisión en el juego del Barca, sobre todo, de tres cuartos de cancha hacia adelante. Esto es algo que viene pasando de manera reiterada, pues, a pesar de tener dominio del balón puede resultar engañoso porque lo hacen en un lugar donde no causan daño al rival.
•Las bajas que tuvo el equipo fueron determinante en el planteamiento táctico de Xavi que sin Pedri, Gavi ni Dembelé tuvo que afrontar un partido con un equipo que está en un buen momento competitivo.
•El Barcelona adoleció de un líder que empujara al equipo y ni Robert Lewandoski pudo jugar este papel y aunque anotó un gol (de penalti) su actuación en la cancha dejó mucho que desear.
•En el segundo tiempo se vio a un equipo sin orden, sin ideas y su variante ofensiva muy limitada, no sólo por las ausencias sino por la mala o nula propuesta que brindaron.
Hay que dar crédito en esta victoria a los movimientos tácticos hechos por el técnico inglés en el tiempo complementario, a los que Xavi no tuvo respuestas; quizás porque no tenía cómo o tal vez porque le faltaron argumentos.
Un elemento sí es seguro: Otra vez el Barcelona se va de una competición europea y mucho debe trabajar, para convertirse en el club grande que ha sido en Europa.

First half
This half started with the home side about to send Barcelona swimming upstream. In this beginning of the match it must be said that once again Barca pulled on the greatness of their goalkeeper and avoided an early goal that would put them in a very complicated situation.
From then on, Barca put a pause to the fast game that Manchester were playing and managed to balance the actions, with Frankie De Jong capitalizing and commanding the midfield.
Despite the above, until the 14th minute the home team looked better on the field. But, in the 15th minute, a silly play by Manchester captain Bruno Fernandez against Balde was punished with a penalty, which was converted by Robert Lewandoski.
The following minutes of the match were a monologue, with an insistent Manchester, attacking from all sides and a Barcelona with a good defensive order. Thus ended the first half, with a partial victory of 1-0 in favor of Barcelona that was putting them in the quarterfinals, but there was still a lot of history to go.

This back and forth game favored the English, who were more physical than their opponents and only had one scare, when in the 63rd minute Koundé almost beat De Gea with a header, but the Spanish goalkeeper playing for the English team threw it away for a corner kick.
This game would sooner or later pay off for the reds of Manchester and in the 72nd minute one of the moves made by Ten Hag paid off and Anthony put his team ahead, to sign Barcelona's elimination from this European competition.

This game could be defined as a three-part movie: in the first part the protagonist was FC Barcelona, in the second part Manchester United and in general English soccer won.
Once again Barca is out of Europe, once again they are dismissed from a competition of the old continent in an English court and once again their fans are left waiting for that European joy that they have not received since 2015 when they won their fifth Champions League.
Summing up the match, we could say that Barcelona was superior, as always they dominated the ball, won more duels, had more shots on goal, dominated the center with Frankie de Jong dominating the match and Robert Lewandoski, who without being in his best form, scored the only goal of the half.
But in the second half things changed and Manchester turned to their footballing quality and history. Less than two minutes into the game and Fred was already giving them the equalizer. The ghost of Barcelona's first leg matches began to haunt them and their decimated bench did not seem to be able to contain the fury of the English.
As time went on, Manchester took control of the midfield and simply crushed Barcelona. There was no player on the pitch that could lift the team and neither an improved Lewandoski nor a disastrous Raphinha nor the midfield power of the Spanish team could prevent what was coming at them.
When Anthony scored the second goal everyone knew the die was cast.
Keys to Barcelona's defeat
- It was a team with physical deficiency and this in a sport like this is a determining factor.
- They lost the duel in a sector of the field that has distinguished this team and has made it strong (midfield).
- Barca lacked precision in their play, especially from three quarters of the field forward. This is something that has been happening repeatedly, because, despite having control of the ball, it can be misleading because they do it in a place where they do not cause damage to the opponent.
- The team's absentees were a determining factor in Xavi's tactical approach, who without Pedri, Gavi and Dembelé had to face a match with a team that is in a good competitive moment.
