A duel at the bottom of the Premier League table, the clash at Molineux Stadium represented much more than just three points for whoever came away with the win; winning represented pure oxygen and losing would be a major blow in what has been a difficult season for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City. Already another of their direct rivals at the bottom of the table had caused a surprise, Nottingham Forest beating Klopp's Liverpool at The City Ground.
Wolves and Foxes were in absolute urgency on the Molineux turf; in a three-match Premier League week, Wolves had won narrowly at home to Forest but lost to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in midweek. While the Foxes played two games at the King Power, drawing 0-0 with Palace before a 2-0 midweek win over Leeds United.
The Foxes went into Wolves' den with the statistics utterly against them, having lost all five of their away games. Moreover, their record against Wolverhampton was disheartening, having failed to win any of the 10 Premier League games they had faced Wolves, drawing four and losing six; the Foxes also lost 2-1 to Wolves the last time they met.

La oncena de Rodgers salió determinada a ir contra la historia, nunca habían ganado en Molineux, jamás habían vencido al Wolverhampton por la Premier League, pues era hora de cambiar las tornas. Apenas rebasada la hora de hostilidades, Rodgers decidió refrescar el ataque de su equipo, llamó a Jamie Vardy que, fiel a sus malas y peculiares costumbres, se bebió una lata de Red Bull y saltó al campo. Su bebida le dió alas y con tan solo 4 minutos en el verde, asistió a Maddison para el tercero de los Foxes, de Jamie para James que se creó espacio y la puso pegada al palo inferior izquierdo de Sá para el tercero del Leicester; sexto gol en la cuenta personal de Maddison en la campaña, goleador absoluto de su equipo.
Rodgers' side came out determined to go against history, they had never won at Molineux, they had never beaten Wolverhampton in the Premier League, so it was time to turn the tables. On eight minutes Maddison took a free-kick and after a defensive rebound, Youri Tielemans's massive strike rattled Sá's net and the entire Wolves' den.
In the 19th minute the Foxes doubled their lead, Barnes linked up with Dewsbury-Hall and drove into the box to hit Steve Davis' side netting for the second time. It was a near-definitive blow for Wolverhampton, who had not scored more than one goal in any game this campaign.
Just past the hour mark, Rodgers decided to freshen up his team's attack, calling on Jamie Vardy who, true to his bad and peculiar habits, drank a can of Red Bull and took to the field. His drink gave him wings and with just four minutes on the pitch, he set up Maddison for the Foxes' third, from Jamie to James who created space for himself and slotted past Sá's bottom left-hand post for Leicester's third; Maddison's sixth goal of the campaign, top scorer for his team.
