Los bermellones se plantaron bien en el terreno de juego y al Real Madrid le costó arrancar, tanto que sería la visita quien tomaría la ventaja en el Teatro de la Castellana; el Mallorca de Aguirre fue de fiesta al Bernabéu buscando bronca, y supo dar el primer golpe. Al minuto 35’, Kang-in Lee cobró un envío de falta a segundo palo, donde un imperial Vedat Muriqui se levantó para cerrar la pinza y castigar la nula marcación defensiva del Real Madrid sobre su persona. 1-0 adelantaba la visita.
Se notaba ¿y cómo no? la ausencia de Karim Benzema en el frente de ataque del Real Madrid; Benzema es determinante en cada zona del campo que pisa y en cada faceta del juego para los de Ancelotti; pero este Real Madrid ha ido aprendiendo a depender cada vez menos de su figura. La cosa no pintaba nada bien para los blancos de cara el cierre de la primera parte cuando Federico Valverde, cuyo apodo habrá de ser cambiado de “Pajarito” a “Ave Rapaz”, se inventó una maradoniana carrera desde su propia mitad del campo ¡Cómo disfruta Federico del cabalgar en espacio abierto con la pelota en los pies!, fue dejando rivales colgados en el camino y de su pierna zurda salió un obus imparable que sacudió las redes de Rajkovic para decretar el empate.

Y habría más del show de Rodrygo Goes, pues al minuto 89’ se inventó una mastrclass de conducción y gambeta dentro del área, imperial arrastre de pelota, y un tremendo par de quiebres dentro del área para firmar el 3-1 del Real Madrid y una joyita para enmarcar en su colección personal. Rodrygo está siendo sumamente determinante para el buen paso merengue pues ha generado 11 goles en sus últimos 11 encuentros disputados (6 goles y 5 asistencias), oro puro.
