Al igual que la mayoría de nuestros compatriotas Venezolanos, amantes del béisbol, me encuentro a la expectativa con respecto a la inminente alcance de la meta de los 500 homeruns por parte del Venezolano Miguel Cabrera, quien en cualquier momento se puede unir al selecto grupo convirtiéndose en el número 28 en llegar a tal número lo que le coloca entre los grandes bateadores de poder en la historia del deporte.

El próximo en llegar será el venezolano Miguel Cabrera, quien en su temporada lleva 12 cuadrangulares y con un par de temporadas más en su contrato podría dejar el listón bien alto para los próximos en llegar a la ansiada meta. Cabrera, quien al igual de muchos de esta lista, llega a la marca luego de muchas lesiones que retrasaron su ritmo debido a la edad, en comparación con el resto de los integrantes del “Club de los 500” la los 38 años se une a Rafael Palmeiro quien terminó con 569, pero este jugador a diferencia del Venezolano, fue encontrado como positivo para el uso de esteroides, y su longevidad se demostró hace un par de años cuando a la edad de 53 años pudo batear sobre .300 en una liga independiente, en lo particular considerando el ritmo de cuadrangulares de cabrera en las últimas temporadas y que le quedan dos años de contrato yo diría que la meta para su total sería superar los 521 que mantienen en empate a Willie Mcovey, Frank Thomas y Ted Williams, quizás con un par de buenas temporadas pudiese acercarse a Jimmie Foxx.
