Estuvo divino y saludable.

Do you have any goals that involve physical activity?
If the answer is yes, I will give you some tips that have served me throughout my experience in this fitness world.

About seven years ago I was immersed in my role as a mom. My children have very little time with each other, imagine my chore with a one and a half year old baby and the other newborn baby. 😂. The first three years of my children's age for me and my husband were very difficult because everything we did revolve around our little ones, we had no time left for anything, it seemed like we were just changing diapers 🤣.

I was so focused on being a good mom that I neglected my most precious temple, my body. So much so, that I didn't like my physical appearance. In addition to feeling a bit self-conscious, I felt insecure and it was already starting to affect me emotionally. Although I only had five extra kilos, they were very poorly distributed 🤣. When my children were old enough to attend kindergarten classes, I made the firm decision to start an exercise routine and to look for food alternatives according to my goal.

When I started I was very excited. I wanted to do as many exercises as possible that I even worked my eyelashes 🤣. Logically I got to the point of over-training because I wanted to get to the finish line quickly. There were days when I was so exhausted that I didn't want to go to the gym. I also went on strict diets where I only ate protein and vegetables. This resulted, as expected, in low blood sugar, dizziness, and nausea when doing any physical routine. I was burning a lot of calories, but consuming very few. With trial and error, I finally realized I was doing it all wrong 🤦‍♀.

When we start a healthy life we must keep in mind what our goal is and work based on that. If we want to lose weight we must eat in a balanced way, eat a lot of vegetables, lower the intake of manufactured products, and do not take away the carbohydrate, we simply have to adjust the appropriate portion on our plate. One option is to vary the intake to other types of healthier carbohydrates such as cocoyam, cassava, rice and, why not, you can also consume pasta, only that it must be done in a conscious way.

Exercise routines should be varied so that in this way all the muscles of the body are worked and strengthened. Making a daily routine plan is excellent. For example, I have a different routine every day to work for a specific muscle group and I won't repeat it during the week. On Mondays, I focus on quads and adductors. Tuesdays on biceps, triceps, and chest. Wednesdays on glutes, femoral, and abductors. Thursdays on shoulders and back. Fridays I do full body with cardio HIIT or boxing. And finally Saturday and Sunday I rest, relax at home or just go for a walk with my family. Remember that rest is also fundamental and is part of an effective workout.

separador.jpg

After going through all this, I can tell you that whatever goal you have set for yourself, try not to get obsessed with reaching it quickly, enjoy the journey and make it part of your daily life for the well-being of your body and your health. I can attest that exercising has changed my life for the better, boosted my self-esteem, made me feel happy every time I push my body to do a hard workout and, of course, it noticeably changed my body. At 37 years old, about to turn 38 next month, I feel energized and able to do many things I couldn't do before.

Here are some tips that have helped me reach my goal:

  1. Imagine what your changes should be in the short, medium, and long term. Be objective so that when you don't see those changes at the moment you don't get discouraged and stop the training.

  2. When you train, go at your own pace, but always try to push yourself and set new goals.

  3. You should weigh and measure yourself so that you have an average of how many kilos you have to lose and how much muscle you have gained.

  4. Find motivation and get off the couch.

  5. If you feel sluggish, put on some music to get you going.

  6. Train in various places such as the park, the beach, the gym. Change of scenery helps you not to get bored of the routine.

  7. Try to vary the types of physical activity, I do yoga, boxing, dance therapy classes and I even practiced pole dance. What I'm trying to say is that you should try what works best for you.

  8. Choose the time of day that fits you best. Generally, mornings are great for training because it generates a lot of energy for the rest of the day.

  9. If you want to go to a gym, make sure it is close to where you live so you have no excuses to go.

So my dear Hivers, don't look for excuses to train.

Come on, you can do it!

And so you don't get cold, this time I bring you a "Full body" routine in which we will activate the back, chest, biceps, glutes and legs.

WARM-UP

Beginners: do 80 ropes 20 at a time with a 10 second rest between repetitions. You can also do a 15 minute or half hour brisk walk.

Advanced: do 400 ropes and a gentle 15 minute jog.
I think jumping rope is the best cardio. Doing it burns a lot of calories.

For this workout you will need:
  • A yoga mat
  • Dumbbells or two ½ liter water bottles.
  • If you don't have the above mentioned materials it doesn't matter, work with your body weight.
  • And most importantly, the desire to exercise.

Remember to warm up before doing any physical activity.

Remember that nutrition goes hand in hand with physical activity.

Finally, I give you a salad recipe of lettuce, arugula, tomato and celery. A salad high in vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients
  • 6 leaves of romaine lettuce
  • 6 leaves of arugula
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 celery stalk
  • One tablespoon of olive oil
  • Half a lemon or a tablespoon of vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Procedure

Wash the food well. Cut the lettuce and arugula with your hands. Then, cut the tomato into slices and the celery into cubes. Set aside.
Now, add the tablespoon of olive oil, the squeeze of lemon, salt and pepper to taste. Stir and serve.

salad.jpg
The arugula is not visible. By mistake, the arugula was left under the lettuce and my husband noticed it until the time of the assembly of this post 🤣. Besides being a delicious vegetable for meals, arugula contains lots of vitamin C and iron. Photo taken by me in my living room at home..

separator.jpg

I made it for my lunch and accompanied it with rice and stewed meat with vegetables. It was divine and healthy.

healthy lunch.jpg
The perfect combination for a balanced and healthy lunch. The salad was accompanied by a rich stewed meat with more vegetables and an adequate portion of carbohydrate. Photo taken by me in my living room at home.

And voilá, enjoy!
