Un par de años después, el Barcelona pudo lograr su revancha y derrotó al Bayern con un marcador global de 5-3, no fue tan horrible como el 7-0 de 2 años antes pero aun así fue una sólida victoria.
El último capítulo de esta rivalidad ocurrió el año pasado durante la pandemia. En lugar de 2 partidos, solo hubo 1 partido en terreno neutral para evitar que los jugadores viajen demasiado y evitar conflictos con las políticas de Covid. En ese histórico partido, el Bayern marcó 8 goles para una victoria final de 8-2. Nunca había visto a un equipo de élite recibir tantos goles en un partido importante de Champions. Eso fue increíble para la mayoría de los fanáticos del fútbol y ciertamente fue muy doloroso para el Barcelona.
Ya es un poco más de un año después de ese partido y estos 2 equipos se enfrentan una vez más. El Bayern de Múnich es prácticamente el mismo equipo, no ha habido muchos cambios y su rendimiento sigue siendo de primera, mientras que el Barcelona se ha debilitado mucho, ha perdido a su estrella principal Messi y actualmente se encuentra en una situación económica muy preocupante que hace que todo sea aún más difícil para ellos a nivel institucional.
El favorito desde antes de que comenzara el partido volvió a ser el Bayern de Múnich y el resultado final lo demostró, una sólida victoria por 3-0 que deja muy claro cuál es el mejor equipo entre estos 2.
¿Cómo estuvo el partido?
El partido comenzó de manera muy uniforme sin un equipo claramente dominante. Me sorprendió ver al Barcelona con un movimiento de balón tan fluido, jugaba con confianza y no parecía un equipo inferior.
Está claro que el Barcelona sigue siendo un gran equipo, pero la calidad del equipo ciertamente ha disminuido después de perder a Messi, see jugador siempre produce tantas buenas jugadas de ataque y su ausencia hace que sea mucho más difícil para el equipo marcar goles. Con el tiempo seguro que se acostumbrarán y superarán todo esto, pero ahora mismo creo que les está afectando.
Tanto de Jong como Lewandowski tuvieron la oportunidad de marcar desde dentro del área en los primeros 15 minutos más o menos, pero en ambas ocasiones, no pudieron realmente disparar el balón gracias al trabajo defensivo del equipo rival. De hecho, me sorprendió ver al Barcelona crear algunas jugadas de ataque que incomodaban mucho al Bayern y jugaban a un nivel muy alto a la par con el Bayern. Esto demuestra que están tratando de no depender de Messi y están dando lo mejor de sí para seguir siendo un equipo competitivo incluso sin su estrella.
No olvidemos que el Barcelona también dejó ir a Griezmann, por lo que su ataque ha cambiado mucho en comparación con la temporada pasada. Aunque para ser honesto, Griezmann nunca brindó un desempeño adecuadamente alto, pero siempre fue uno de los principales atacantes del equipo. Pensaba que se iba a convertir en el líder del equipo tras la marcha de Messi, pero por alguna razón decidió volver al Atlético de Madrid.
Araujo fue el mejor jugador del Barcelona durante la primera parte, estuvo increíble defendiendo y parando a Lewandowski, y le dio mucha seguridad al equipo desde su posición en la última línea de defensa. Este es claramente un excelente defensor joven y probablemente se convertirá en un miembro habitual de la alineación titular.
Hacia el minuto 27, el Barcelona estuvo a punto de marcar tras un tiro libre de Depay. Araujo hizo un gran cabezazo pero, lamentablemente para él, el balón se fue por encima de la portería. Fue un cabezazo potente y hubiera sido un gol si hubiera ido a porteria. Este gol obligó al Barcelona a asumir más riesgos para aumentar sus posibilidades de empatar este partido, pero eso también significó el riesgo de sufrir un segundo gol y darle al Bayern una ventaja aún mayor. El Barcelona estaba en una posición difícil y sin forma de causar peligro al Bayern.
El disparo más peligroso del Barcelona en la segunda parte vino de Busquets alrededor de los 50 minutos, no fue a puerta pero al menos se estaban poniendo intensos en sus intentos de ataque.
El Bayern fue mejor no solo en ataque sino también en defensa. No dejaban casi ninguna posibilidad al Barcelona de incluso disparar, y el tiempo estaba a su favor. Poco a poco, el Bayern se hizo más dominante y las mejores jugadas ofensivas procedían de ese equipo. En la segunda parte, el Bayern jugaba incluso mejor que en la primera, uno de sus disparos pegó en el poste y un par de minutos después llegó el segundo gol.
Al igual que en el primero, uno de sus jugadores, esta vez fue Musiala, recibió el balón en el borde del área, su disparo pegó en el poste pero Lewandowski supo atrapar el rebote y mandó fácilmente el balón dentro de la red. Otro gol sencillo para el Bayern y ahora su victoria era mucho más probable.
El segundo gol fue demoledor para el Barcelona, casi no hubo reacción por su parte lo que pudiera interpretarse como su aceptación de la derrota. No pudieron hacer nada para evitar que el Bayern ganara y el ritmo del partido comenzó a ralentizarse.
Creo que el Bayern hizo tantos tiros en los postes como goles. El tercer gol llegó también tras un disparo pegado a uno de los postes, el rebote también fue directo a Lewandowski, quien tras regatear a Piqué con una hábil jugada dentro del área, dio un disparo fuerte y entró, su disparo fue casi imparable y aseguró una tremenda victoria para el Bayern!
El Barcelona ni siquiera pudo hacer 1 disparo a puerta en todo el partido, todos sus intentos de gol iban fuera, lo que demuestra el excelente trabajo defensivo del Bayern.
¿Qué sigue?
Más tarde hoy estaré viendo el partido entre el Real Madrid y el Inter, que también debería ser muy emocionante, ya que ambos equipos son geniales.
In the past decade, there have been several historic matches between Bayern Munich and Barcelona. I clearly remember in 2013 where these 2 teams faced each other off in the Champions League semifinal, and how Bayern Munich absolutely destroyed Barcelona with a global result of 7-0. That was the craziest result I have ever seen in a semifinal and it certainly was incredibly humbling for Barcelona.
A couple of years later, Barcelona was able to achieve their revenge and defeated Bayern with a global score of 5-3, it wasn't as horrible as the 7-0 from 2 years before but it was still a solid victory.
The last chapter in this rivalry happened last year during the pandemic. Instead of 2 matches, there was only 1 match on neutral ground to avoid having the players doing too much traveling and avoid conflict with the covid policies. In that historic match, Bayern scored 8 goals for a final victory of 8-2. I have never seen an elite team receiving so many goals in an important Champions League match. That was unbelievable for most football fans and it certainly was very painful for Barcelona.
A little bit more than one year after that match and these 2 teams are facing each other once again. Bayern Munich is pretty much the same team, there haven't been many changes and their performance is still top-notch, while Barcelona has weakened a lot, they have lost their main star Messi and currently find themselves in a very troubling economic situation that makes everything even harder for them at the institutional level.
The favorite since before the match started was Bayern Munich once again and the final result proved it, a solid victory 3-0 that leaves it very clear which one is the best team between these 2.
How was the match?
The match started very evenly without a clear dominant team. I was surprised to see Barcelona having such a fluid movement of the ball, they were playing with confidence and they didn't seem like an inferior team.
It is clear Barcelona is still a great team, but the quality of the squad has certainly decreased after they lost Messi, he produced so many good attacking plays and his absence makes it much harder for the team to score goals. With time, they will surely get used to this and overcome it, but right now I believe it is affecting them.
Both de Jong and Lewandowski had an opportunity to score from inside the area in the first 15 minutes or so but on both occasions, they were unable to actually shoot the ball thanks to the defensive work of the rival team. I was actually surprised seeing Barcelona creating a few attacking plays that were making Bayern very uncomfortable and playing at a very high level on par with Bayern. This proves they are trying to not be Messi dependant and are giving their best to continue to be a competitive team even without their star.
Let’s not forget Barcelona also let Griezmann go, so their attack has really changed compared to last season. Although to be honest, Griezmann never provided a properly high performance but he was still one of the main attacking players of the team. I believe he was going to become the leader of the team after Messi left but for some reason, he decided to return to Atletico de Madrid.
Araujo was the best Barcelona player during the first half, he was amazing when defending and stopping Lewandowski, and gave the team a lot of security from his position in the last line of defense. This is clearly an excellent young defender and will probably become a usual member of the lineup.
Around the 27 minute mark, Barcelona almost scored after a free-kick by Depay. Araujo did a great header but sadly for him, the ball went above the goal net. It was a powerful header and it would have been a goal if it went inside the net because the goalkeeper wouldn't have been able to stop it. Araujo was not only stopping Bayern's attack, but he was also contributing to his own team's attacks.
Bayern was applying intense pressure to Barca and trying to make them commit mistakes when starting their passes from the defensive line. The evenness of the match lasted for around 20 minutes or so, after that moment, Bayern was in complete control of the team and as time went on they were beginning to deserve at least a 1 goal advantage.
The first goal finally came around the 34-minute mark. It wasn’t a very elaborated play, Muller simply received the ball at the border of the area, and with a regular shot, the ball simply went inside the net. The key moment in the play was the bounce from Barcelona’s defender that changed the trajectory of the ball and left the goalkeeper in a very bad position. It was good luck for Muller and this certainly increased their confidence for the remainder of the match.
This goal forced Barcelona to assume more risk in order to increase their chances of tying this match but that also meant the risk of suffering a second goal and giving Bayern an even larger advantage. Barcelona was in a difficult position and with no way of causing danger to Bayern.
The most dangerous shot from Barcelona in the second half came from Busquets around the 50-minute mark, it didn't go on target but they were at least getting intense in their attacking attempts.
Bayern was better not only in the attack but also while defending. They were leaving almost no chance for Barcelona to even shot, and time was in their favor. Slowly but surely, Bayern became more dominant and the best-attacking plays were coming from that team. In the second half, Bayern was playing even better than in the first one, one of their shot hit the post and a couple of minutes later the second goal came.
Just like in the first one, one of their players, this time it was Musiala, received the ball at the border of the area, his shot hit the post but Lewandowski was able to catch the bounce and he easily sent the ball inside the net. Another simple goal for Bayern and now their victory was much more likely.
The second goal was devastating for Barcelona, there was almost no reaction from them which could be interpreted as their acceptance of the defeat. There was nothing they could do to stop Bayern from winning and the pace of the match began to slow down.
I believe Bayern had as many shots hitting the posts as goals. The third goal also came after a shot hitting one of the posts, the bounce also went directly to Lewandowski, who after dribbling Pique with a skilled move inside the area, gave a strong shot and it went in, his shot was almost unstoppable and sealed a terrific victory for Bayern!
Barcelona wasn't even able to do 1 shot on target in the entire match, all of their goal attempts went outside, which proves the excellent defensive work from Bayern.
What's next?
Later today I will be watching the match between Real Madrid and Inter which should also be very exciting since both of those teams are great.
