It's a long weekend, and I don't have much work to do, and I noticed our hollow block machine manufacturer simply idling in one corner, so I decided to write about it.
What is hollow block?
I am aware that the word is not new to you. I made a research and got this idea from google which I cited below. It also generates minimal waste, because the blocks are made from natural materials like cement, sand or limestone, and water. Nowadays, sand is very expensive, so we use limestone instead and the boulders from limestone that is not usable in the process can also be used as materials for filling up holes. It is also sellable; many customers are looking for it, and to substitute for expensive air-entraining agent we use molasses to make it more durable when hardened.
Furthermore, using hollow blocks could help us conserve energy because the air pockets within the blocks provide excellent insulation, thus decreasing the possibility of using an air conditioning system.
Why most people used hollow blocks in building their houses?
We may have different reasons for that, but the most favored answers are, hollow blocks are less costly compared to other durable construction materials in the market and more commonly accessible than other building materials. As a result, they are an excellent alternative for cheap housing and building projects with a low budget individual.
Hollow blocks come in different sizes
The blocks come in a variety of sizes and shapes, allowing for a vast range of design possibilities. These blocks may be used by carpenters and builders to create a variety of forms and structures. The blocks may also be easily cut and drilled to accommodate electrical and plumbing systems, making them an excellent choice for infrastructure building.
In most cases especially those small-scale businessmen like us, just prefer to manufacture #4x8x16 and #6x8x16. This 6x8x16 inches blocks costs 18php (0.33 USD), which are most likely to be used as foundation structure for houses and two-story buildings, while 4x8x16 inches ranges from 12-13php (0.24 USD, and are used in the formation of the upper part structure of the buildings or houses.

I posted the step-by-step technique for manufacturing hollow blocks last two days. The instruction is rather simple but if you actually do it. it requires a lot of energy.
There are many ways on how to make hollow blocks: you can produce hollow blocks manually without using a machine run by electricity, it is ideal for home use only and a traditional way of manufacturing hollow blocks, it is cheaper, but the production is very slow.
Manually operated hollow block machine maker can produce 5 pieces in a row, it is faster compared to the later, you can also use the automated hydraulic hollow block making machine, it is ideal for mass production, most big industrial companies are using this kind of machine.
It is a hefty and tough job to be the one who really performs the work of producing the hollow block. However, if you want to grow muscle, this is an excellent workout.
When the hollow blocks are removed from the machine, they are dried in the sun. Placing it in direct sunlight is extremely dangerous and risky since sudden rain can cause the block to fracture.
What made me decide to put up this hollow-block-making business?
Way back then, before the pandemic, I have noticed that many people prefer to use hollow blocks and other concrete materials especially right after the hit of typhoon Yolanda.
So, we tried our luck in this industry.
Hollow blocks nowadays, are becoming increasingly expensive in the Philippines. Well not only hollow blocks but all commodities are increasing. we now have the option of creating our own at home. However, we must first assess the materials, labor, and time that will be devoted to this task. However, with persistence and hard effort, you will undoubtedly succeed in whatever business enterprise you choose to pursue.
Perhaps you're wondering if this business is lucrative. Well, one thing I might say is that the success of your firm is dependent on your managerial abilities. There are several things to consider; if you fulfill all of them, you can be certain that your business will be successful and profitable.
