Minor Changes on How Curations are Done

This is for new comers and for future references. I highly doubt a lot would bother reading community updates but announcements needs to be made that worth is being done once in a while. In line with the previous updates. This post is dedicated to how curations will be done until a new system is in place.

The previous curation activities centered mostly on manual curation. This heavily relied on volunteer work which isn't exactly work the time compared to building one's own blog. It's pure community service that runs the show. This also meant that curation activities will always be at the mercy of the availability of the authors for the account.

So we'll be shifting part of the activity to automated upvoting, like following trails. This isn't a novel thing as the account had already been used to upvote whitelisted authors. The problem was that there isn't enough activity in this account's curation. It sits at 100% VP most of the time and that also meant less opportunity for growth. The account earns curation rewards too.

It'll be following some trails to fix this minor problem. The authors upvoted by the trails won't be limited to Filipino authors.

Other changes include the core criteria for upvoting:

Hive PH Curation Guidelines

  1. Should be posted on Hive PH community to be included in the Featured/Highlighted post.
  2. Should have #hiveph on the tags.
  3. Original Content. Give credit where credit is due. Failure to credit rightful owners will be reported as plagiarism.
  4. Should not be considered as spam. Make sure to include engaging and interesting description on your photograph/art/crafts. Otherwise, your post will be considered as spam.

We'll be scraping off criteria 1 and 2 from the list. It's not necessary to post under this community to get a vote. I don't see the point of telling people how they should share their blog to get support unless it's part of a contest entry or something along those line.

Number 2 is just impractical. New comers or even old users would know that this only becomes useful for narrowing down posts made by existing community members. #Philippines tag is fine for content discovery alone. You can still use the hiveph tag but it's not mandatory.

Number 4 is subjective. Most community members aren't exactly content creators but I could still appreciate the attempt. If microblogging is your thing, that's cool, but put some effort coming up with a witty description or well thought out remark for a post while you're at it.

I'm not trying to diss users that have yet to find their branding for their blogs. But it takes conscious effort to have results be apparent on your blogs. If you've been around for months without improving your content, that says a lot. The community isn't obligated to reward you for existing on the platform but it would be nice if you could give it more reasons to do so.

Not everyone is going to get upvoted due to the limited VP. And no one is going to get rich with an upvote from this account at 100%. But efforts are being made to redistribute rewards to those that deserve the recognition and support.

The rewards for the curation posts published will be directed to the author, featured authors, and @whoaretheyph. If the community wants to support the featured authors, they can do so by upvoting the respective posts and the curation posts. They also get portions of their votes donated to @whoaretheyph which is a charity program aimed directed for Filipino's in need.
