Level Game: Final Activity on Game Development

image.png

During the making of our game application, our instructor decided to assign us another activity about game. From my point of view, he really loves game and making games. He uploaded a video presentation and introduced us on Unity even though we already knew what unity was because basically this is the software, we were using to make the game application. Anyway, the entire video is about introduction, the function of buttons, making sprites. In the video he explains to us on how to animate a character or make your own avatar. He showed us how he makes his character walk, run, jump and even attack for me I already know how to animate because I already used it, and I enjoyed animating stuffs. He made a different kind of animation for walk, run, jump and attack it has to be separated because he will put a scripted om that that when the player clicks the mouse or move the left arrow key on the keyboard something will happen.

This is on how you animate your avatar.
Map and level making

After the first video, he said that he will also drop a link for our final activity project. to make your own level game. Fast forward he uploaded the video, and it contains a guide and procedure on how to make a simple game. The game on the video is basically like a Mario game, the avatar must complete each obstacle and don't die during the game. First is he showed us the easiest way to make a map, he told us to make the map on the adobe and put the draft map on the unity. This map will make as the blueprint for our game. After that you will need to use a box collider this collider will make your object interactable with your avatar. I made my map more like dungeon and I made the background like an dungeon cave, my game contains fire, lava, falling meteorites and even the flow is like a dried rock with lava on it and I chose the girl warrior because it matches my map even though our instructor did not allow to have an animated monsters I still wanted to do it so that I made a crow that can attack your avatar and kill you, you can see that on my video. My assets including the warrior woman are from unity assets store and it is free because our instructor said that we don't have to spend money to make our avatar also I added some background music to make the game more exciting.

My dungeon lava map and its obstacles.

After you completed the map, you will have to put obstacles like spike or rocks that can make your avatar die during the game. The essence of making an obstacle on a game will make the player think before they do something and also their logical thinking will occur because they will make a strategy on how to beat the obstacles itself. Also, these can encourage your player to finish the game even though he dies, he will be eager to win it. On the finish line you will see a door representing the passage for the level 2, sadly we did not make a level 2 scene so that when the avatar went to the door it will eventually restart the game. We rush this individual game because of the final examination heading.

The crow and the falling meteorite
Some of us made this by a day or an hour only but most of our classmate struggles on making this activity because some of their scripts are not working, there's some bug even though you followed the steps on the video. Our instructor said that after we finished the game, we will have to play it and stream it on YouTube so that others can watch the gameplay even though it is only one level. Thankfully we finished and uploaded it on our YouTube you can check it here the entire gameplay of it.

This will be the last activity for our subject. I learned a lot from this subject, as a gamer I really love and enjoy making games especially animating the avatar or the sprites of the game because for me it is the important assets to make your game lively and can make your player enjoy the game itself and it caught my interest to pursue and continue to make a game especially an educational game to help other students. As for our game application I will share them to other kids so that they will learn about our game. And then our finals have ended, and we will be proceeding on our Midyear which is our OJT. Wish us luck on our next journey.

Thankfully we survived this semester, hopefully we will graduate soon!
