Season of Giving: Christmas in the Philippines!

We all know that Christmas is the season of giving and sharing. It is the wonderful time of the year that we all love, specially to most of Filipinos. Christmas here in the Philippines is somehow way different from other countries. Filipinos have their own tradition and way of celebrating Christmas. But there is one thing that makes Christmas more special in my country. The act of giving and sharing are still being practiced and are given much importance during this wonderful time of the year. Not just mere giving and exchanging gifts to your family members, but also sharing the blessings to other people. This act of kindness is very evident here in my country especially here in my province.

One of the tradition that I am really proud that we have in my province is sharing and giving of food packs to everyone. This act of kindness is led by those people who are of course capable and have the money to share for everyone just like politicians and business man. Just like this one, the mayor of my hometown gave food packs to all bonafide residents of my town. It was distributed to the repective barangays of the town. And all residents claimed the food packs in barangay halls. The food pack contains 3 kilos of rice, canned goods, and 1 pack of Spaghetti pasta and sauce. It was packed in a blue eco bag that has a "Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong taon" print on it which mean, "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year". I know the goods inside the food packs are not that a lot but I am sure that everyone took it home with smiles on their faces.

Another gift pack that we have received was from our congressman. The gift pack contains five kilos of rice and Spaghetti pasta and sauce too. It was delivered by a truck and all we did was to wait for it outside of our houses. It was nice receiving this gift pack with 5 kilos of rice on it. For a rice lover like Filipinos, it was a blessed gift for everyone.

It is not about the amount you spend on a gift, its not about how big or small your gifts are, it is all about the willingness, genuineness, and gratefulness of giving and receiving a gifts this Christmas! Belated Merry Christmas everyone!

That's all for today loves! Until next time. Gracias!
