#BeerSaturday 245! Brewing and discovering Incognito and Spectrum!

I became a beer blogger naturally due to years I have spent brewing for myself, working with breweries on their technology and marketing, and the decades spent imbibing. Hence, the self-decreed title of the #Blockchain #Beerologist and am cranking up the Beerology game this year.

For week 245, I am brewing and drinking and discovering new hops progression!

Pint of the week

IMG_3673.jpg

This pint of the week is special for a few reasons. First of all, because it is beer. Additionally, is it being enjoyed in one of my favourite places in town, which happens to be very upscale yet inviting https://revival.house Besides sharing it with friends, it is extra sweet because we brewed it ourselves! That's right. We secretly set up a brewery in the basement of one of the nicest restaurant venues in town, and we have clear, delicious beer we brewed flowing through the taps. This was the maiden voyage brew we endearingly refer to as SW (Swamp Water) because it was brewed from the most random of discount ingredients we had available.

It really isn't bad at all and we are getting positive reviews. Now we know the operation works and we know what we are doing, we have another batch with better ingredients almost ready, and another batch with premium ingredients being carbonated right now.

I will be sure to tell this story once the chapters have written themselves. Brew it yourself!

Shorty of the Week

IMG_3659.jpg

The Shorty of the Week is generally a short can I keep in my fridge for when a pint is just too much, or there is a special little treat of a playground beer available on the shelf. This week is a bit of the latter but was not from my fridge as it was handed to me at LANfest. Another Bloodbrothers https://www.bloodbrothersbrewing.com/ beer!

Cunning of Hand https://www.bloodbrothersbrewing.com/products/cunning-of-hand-355-ml-4-pack is an IPA with a couple of my favourite IPA pairs: Citra and Mosaic hops. They generally team up to make for a bold & full taste explosion with a citrusy edge to sweeten up the dryness. Slight of hand or cunning of mind, this apparently is going for a combination of the two with the progressive use of "Incognito and Spectrum aroma products" to enhance and activate the hop character in this yummy beer. These compounds are 100% hop-derived and enhance the hop taste without effecting the bitterness (IBU rating) of the brew. Though this might irk the German/Dutch purists with its addition of ingredients (impurities) to the beer, it is definitely interesting and I am as much in progression and hoppy beer so I love this. I will have to look more into these aroma products and share what I find!

More Collective Arts!

IMG_3632.jpg

Those who have shared pints with me since the dawn of #beersaturday might have hazy recollections of the first tales I told of the Collective Arts https://collectiveartsontario.com/ numbered IPA series. Combining new and progressive/experimental IPA recipes with a new piece of art featured as the unique branding on each is right up my alley. I have really enjoyed the vast majority of them heading up to this 20th edition.

IPA No 20 https://collectiveartsontario.com/collections/ipas/products/ipa-no-20-citra-four-ways-neipa is Citra Four Ways New England IPA. It features art from Ella https://ellaisweird.com/ who hails from Singapore. The Queens of Singapore https://www.behance.net/gallery/79411557/The-Queens-of-Singapore is an interesting and cerebral pop art style with a very worldly and diverse enlightened feel to it. The figures you see are "The woke working Queens of Singapore.
Malay, Indian, Eurasian and Chinese." Connected by beer and now I can spread your work across the globe in an instant on #Hive.

The beer itself is quite good! Citra alone is generally not enough to thrill me but they use processed versions of the hop with cryo-citra, and the same aroma products as in Cunning of Hand above Citra Incognito for addition in the warm part of the brewing process, and Citra Spectrum for the cooler parts of the process (<70 degrees) Turns out the extra punch and flavour profile really brings out the fuller character of the Citra hop and this beer is great. It is sold out online right now but I will buy this again when I see it.

Well done again Collective Arts! More delicious and progressive brewing while supporting artists from across the world. Cheers!

I could play on a team with these guys.

245 consecutive weeks of #Beersaturday?!? You know we have one of the longest running group of drinkin' buddies across the globe and any blockchain. Talk about consistency and a good reason to pull up a beer and warm up the winter? Hit up @detlev/yeaahhh-lets-celebrate-beersaturday-week-245 for the weekly #beersaturday post, grab a pint, and join in the fun with a beer story of your own.

This week, I am again inviting my brand new friends @blitzzzz and @bananofarmer who have powered up for #HPUD and deserve a beer with me and @traciyork. At least 3 pics and lots of beer stories.

Cheers to our global family of beer-drinkers!!
