Am letzten Pfingstwochenende war unsere Tochter mit den Pfadfindern im Zeltlager und somit hatten meine Frau und ich einmal Gelegenheit einen kleinen Trip nach Holland an den Strand von Scheveningen zu machen.
Meine Frau hat uns ein schickes Hotel in Strandnähe gebucht und so sind wir dann am Samstag-Vormittag losgefahren.
Holland hat beim Fahren etwas entspannendes. Zuhause schaltet man den Tempomaten an und lässt den Wagen dann bei einem Verbrauch unter 5 Litern mit 100 km/h über die Autobahn bis zum ziel rollen.
Last Whitsun weekend, our daughter was at camp with the scouts and so my wife and I had the opportunity to take a little trip to the beach in Scheveningen, Holland.
My wife booked us a nice hotel near the beach and so we set off on Saturday morning.
There's something relaxing about driving in Holland. At home, you switch on the cruise control and then let the car roll along the highway to your destination at 100 km/h with a fuel consumption of less than 5 liters.

Nach dem Einchecken ging es dann raus an den Strand. Scheveningen ist bekannt für seinen Pier. Hier kann man in einem der zahlreichen Bistros etwas essen oder trinken. Wem es gefällt, der kann auch eine Fahrt auf dem Riesenrad unternehmen oder sich vom Bungy-Turm in die Tiefe stürzen. Für mich ist das allerdings nichts.
After checking in, we headed out to the beach. Scheveningen is famous for its pier. Here you can have something to eat or drink in one of the many bistros. If you like it, you can also take a ride on the Ferris wheel or plunge into the depths from the bungee tower. But that's not for me.
Nach dem Besuch am Pier haben wir dann einen langen Spaziergang am Strand gemacht. Die zahlreichen Strandbars sind gemütlich eingerichtet und laden zum verweilen ein. Allerdings sind die Preise dort auch nicht gerade günstig. Wir haben uns dann dazu entschieden kurz einen Supermarkt aufzusuchen und uns das wichtigste dort zu besorgen.

Da meine Frau nicht so probierfreudig ist, haben wir uns für etwas klassisches entschieden. Mit einem kalten Corona macht man am Strand absolut nichts falsch.
Leider hatte ich mein Tachenmesser im Hotezimmer liegen gelassen, sonst hätte es auch noch eine Scheibe Limone dazugegeben.

Nachdem wir den Sechserpack dann am Strand geleert hatten, sind wir zum Essen gegangen. Unsere Wahl fiel auf ein indisches Restaurant in der Nähe unseres Hotels. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, hatte die richtige Schärfe und war für Scheveningen sogar recht günstig.
After we had emptied the six-pack on the beach, we went out to eat. We chose an Indian restaurant near our hotel. The food was excellent, had the right level of spiciness and was actually quite cheap for Scheveningen.
Leider waren wir beim Essen etwas zu gemütlich und haben so den Sonnenuntergang am Strand verpasst. Allerdings war es auch so noch sehr mild und wir haben uns noch für eine halbe Stunden in den Sand gesetzt und dem Treiben in den Bars zugesehen.
