Hello, beer tasters! π» π π»
What's up in Beerland? I thought I'd skip #beersaturday today because I'm traveling somewhere again and I'll most likely have a beer from there too, but, what do we want, it's beer time now too, so ...
I have two German beers, I would say real classics of brewing, it would be best to give them a try, it would be a shame to spoil them :)
First the one with less alcohol.
Weihenstephaner Original Helles
Brewed by Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan, Freising, Germany. Being owned by the Free State of Bavaria, founded in 1040, is the oldest continuously operating brewery in the world.
Bottle, 0.5l, alcohol 5.1% ABV, 21 IBU. It's a Helles style, clean, yellow malty German classic beer with a spicy and herbal flavor and dry finish.
What do the Master Brewers say?
A good beer takes its time. The long storage makes our yellow bright lager, βOriginalβ, a flavourful beer enjoyed with fine-pored, white foam. With a mild hoppy note and its pleasant fresh spicy taste, it goes very well with salads, poultry, stews, or with a hearty snack. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.
I have already tried 1516 Kellerbier from this brewery and it was excellent. I hope this one will be as good.
The beer is a clear yellow color with a clean, white head which quickly disappears. A sip goes down the throat smoothly, the aroma of malt, grain, and a little citrus, is very slightly spicy.
The bitterness of the hops is very discreet, almost non-existent, appearing only in the aftertaste, and even there it quickly disappears.
A solid beer, suitable for all occasions but that's about it. The Kellerbier I tried about two months ago was much better.
Is it a time for a beer meme? Yes!
Benediktiner Weissbier Dunkel
Brewed by Benediktiner WeissbrΓ€u, Ettal, Bavaria, Germany.
Bottle, 0.5l, alcohol 5.6% ABV, 12 IBU. It's a Dunkel Weissbeer or Dunkelweisen which means that's brown in color, German wheat beer with aromas of banana and cloves and caramel malt flavor.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Our Benediktiner Weissbier Dunkel is a chesnut-coloured, malty, fruity speciality wheat beer with an appealing cloudy appearance and a gentle roasted aroma.
Yeah, let's taste this!
The beer is cloudy brown in colour with a large creamy head that is very firm and persistent. I had to wait for the head to slowly dissipate and then immediately sip. The beer goes down the throat very smoothly, it feels fresh, sweetnes first, aroma of cloves and caramelized banana but not too much, and bread. There is no hop bitterness, a discreet banana in the aftertaste and then it all slowly disappears.
Very tasty and fresh. I have to admit that I like it better than the previous one, especially because it doesn't have such a pronounced banana taste as is usually the case with wheat beers. Maybe it could stay in my fridge if it's possible to get hold of it.
And what am I listening to as I write this? Something from my latest #newtunes post.
English indie artist NilΓΌfer Yanya, very pop and it goes into your ears very quickly. If you listen to it you'll find it very hard to get rid of it because the chorus will be echoing in your head :)
