Summer's, 262nd #beersaturday calls for some serious cold beer tasting. When if not now in this sweltering heat!
But if the temperature is more than 35 degrees Celsius, then any cold beer will do.
All three beers, I usually have two, but since it's summer :) are from a local shop here in Novalja on the island of Pag, the shop is called 'Svet Piča' (which in English means World of Drinks) ...
and they have an interesting selection of craft and regular beers, it's even better because they have a big cold room where the temperature is 5 degrees, ugh it's really nice when I come in... it's like coming out of a sauna onto the snow :) ❄️
Warsteiner Premier Pils
Brewed by Warsteiner Brauerei Haus Cramer, Warstein, Germany.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.8% ABV, 28 IBU. It's classic German Pilsener.
What do the Master Brewers say?
We are quite proud of our Premium Pilsener. No wonder, we've been brewing for over 265 years. Why does it taste so refreshingly different? It must be the soft brewing water, Hallertau hops, and the finest summer barley malt.
Nice words, for classic pilsner... but if it's cold will be OK
The beer is light and yellow in color, there is not much head and it is not stable.
It has no smell. It goes down the throat smoothly, it is cold, it seems a little watery to me, there is a hop bitterness and a malt sweetness, about the same, nothing dominates, it all disappears in the aftertaste.
What do I know?
It's cold and drinkable, it has a little too much sweetness for my taste, and I miss the freshness. A typical shop beer, the price is good, less than a euro ...
Zmajska Pivovara Pils Craft Lager
Brewed by Zmajska Pivovara, Zagreb, Croatia. They say they're the first Croatian craft brewery.
btw: Zmaj means Dragon in English. It's Pilsner as previously.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.8% ABV, 35 IBU.
What do the Master Brewers say?
The dragon version of the most popular beer style is brewed for 40 days and is drunk in a moment. The secret of this exceptionally drinkable pilsner is its hint of freshness and highlands, floral hop aroma, and accentuated malty notes - obtained from the Slavonian sun-occupied barrels.
Ugh ... sounds interesting but I won't taste it in a moment :)
The beer is light yellow in color, the head is not very stable, and disappears quickly. It has no odor.
A sip goes down the throat smoothly, I immediately tasted the bitterness of the hops, the sweetness is in the background, and there are also some herbs here.
The bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for a while.
The beer is cold and, unlike the previous one, it feels fresh. It's nothing special to make it into a star.
But it is definitely good in the summer heat.

and dinner, we didn't take it too far today, sunny eggs, French fries and cucumber and tomato salad, at the request of my younger son.
Let's move on, I still have one little thing left :)
Zmajska Pivovara Therapy Session IPA
They can show that it's from the same brewery as the previous beer.
Can, 0,5 l, alcohol 3,9 % ABV, 36 IBU.
Session IPA style, which means that it has a lower alcohol content than a classic IPA with more fruity flavors, such as an American IPA.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Therapy is a representative of the new Session IPA style and is rich in refreshing hop aromas of grapefruit, orange, pineapple, and pine and low in alcohol. This makes it drinkable at any time of the day, even in large quantities, but its effect on the mind and body is - proven - therapeutic.
Wow, are they serious?
The beer is cloudy yellow in color, there's little head but it lasts for a while. It smells of hops and herbs.
The first sip goes down the throat smoothly, the mouth develops quite a solid bitterness, and citrus and grapefruit are also present. There is not even a hint of malt.
In the aftertaste, all these flavors and bitterness linger for quite some time.
Very drinkable, refreshing and delicious.
If you don't feel the alcohol with the first can, you do with the second. All in all, for me the best of the three today.
If I get it anywhere at home it will definitely end up in my fridge.
And what am I listening to as I write this? Unfortunately I missed this week's #newtunes post, I'm quite busy, haha, on holiday, but that doesn't mean it's quiet here :)
