Beer Tasting: Overmura PajdaΕ‘ & Viven Master IPA

Hello, beer tasters! 🍻 😎 🍻

Autumn is firmly in the saddle here, meaning the beer won't be as cold as summer. So we don't catch colds and illnesses.
But now all the bluffers are out. If beer isn't good when it's not cold, then it's simply not good beer :) 😁

As usual, I have two beers, one Slovenian, and one Belgian. Small bottles, different brewing process, but it all comes down to taste. We'll see if there's anything special.
Do you have something special for #beersaturday to show us?

First, is the one with the lower alcohol content.

Overmura PajdaΕ‘ Premium Lager

Brewed by Pivovarna Overmura, Petrovci, Slovenia.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 4.5% ABV. It's Lager-style beer, classically brewed.

What do Master brewers say?

A simple lager that refreshes all small and large masters for a good and successful day. Brewed according to a classic in-house recipe from quality natural ingredients, it is golden yellow in color, with a rich and thick head and a pleasant hop aroma. The basic element of our PajdaΕ‘ is one of the highest quality hops in the world - Styrian Gold. It's a traditional Slovenian variety, world-renowned for its fine hop aroma and pleasant and harmonious bitterness.

Nice. As I notice, that's a newer Slovenian microbrewery. And PajdaΕ‘ means in Slovenian a crony, companion, or close friend that you're wandering around with. Yeah, beer could be my crony :)

The beer is a clear yellow color, not much head but creamy. It smells of barley and bread.

A sip goes down the throat quickly, I taste a pleasant hop bitterness, a discreet malt in the background, maybe a little sharpness. The hop bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for quite some time.

It's not exactly a classic lager with that distinct bitterness, but it's OK.

Refreshing and drinkable, really, as the master brewers say, simple, maybe not really a superb lager but I wouldn't mind drinking it all evening ...

Let's move on!

Viven Master IPA

Brewed by Brouwerij van Viven, Sijsele, West Flanders, Belgium.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 7.0% ABV, 50 IBU. It's Belgian IPA style, with the fruitiness and spiciness from the use of Belgian yeast.

What do Master brewers say?

Well-balanced IPA brewed with Merkur (DE), Nelson (NZ) and Citra (US). The result? Hints of citrus, a delicious fruity aroma and a pleasant bitterness. Great as an aperitif!

Belgian beers are very sophisticated for me, with strong and distinct flavours, so this IPA is of particular interest to me.

The beer is cloudy orange in color and the head is average. As I noticed, there is some sediment in the glass.

Now, I don't know if that's the way it should be, unfiltered beers can have something like that, I'll definitely give it a try. It smells malty.

A complex beer, several fruit flavors present, the sweetness of the Belgian malt at the beginning that you don't forget, and then the bitterness develops, enriched with citrus notes, no IPA would be ashamed of that.

A very tasty beer, nothing to be ashamed of, the master brewers have done their job with an excellent score.

It's a pity that it's not exactly available in our area, I'm curious to know what's up with that sediment.

And what am I listening to as I write this?
Something from my last #newtunes post, NilΓΌfer Yanya with his cover of P.J.Harvey is still ringing in my head.
