Hello, beer lovers! π» π π»
Cloudy, humid, and warm weather promises nothing concrete here. The crypto scene is similar. Nothing good. But since you're in the Hive, don't worry. The Hive is a safe haven.
It's lucky we have #beersaturday, 280 in a row, and we can forget all our troubles for a moment. :) π
Today I have two IPA beers in front of me, one Slovenian, and one English. How will they turn out? Well, that's the question! (and not for a million dollars) :) π€£
Read on!
Comet As You Are West Coast IPA
Brewed by Green Gold Brewing, Ε empeter v Savinjski dolini, Slovenia.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 6.0% ABV, 50 IBU. It's IPA, India Pale Ale style beer, hoppy and aromatic.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Traditional West Coast IPA brewed with Comet, Aurora, and Styrian Wolf.
In the song Comet as you are, Kurt Cobain is pointing at people under constant pressure because of the things we are supposed to do every day. In Nirvanaβs name, we tell you to never surrender. Choose your flow in a pool where you will sometimes swim or sink. This beer will give you American wildlife, but it will perfectly and easily connect with Slovenian domestic hops Aurora and Styrian Wolf. An IPA that's simple - perfectly hopped.
Bring that flavor of West Coast IPA to your life and donβt give up β wherever you go, be who you are.
Well, those are very serious words for brewers. I hope you guys are not joking.
The beer is clear and clean, golden in color, the head is average. As soon as I opened the can it smell of hops. The sip goes down the throat smoothly, a distinct hop bitterness dominates, and the taste of citrus develops in the mouth, first, then mango and pineapple, and I also taste a discreet malt sweetness.
In the aftertaste, everything slowly disappears except the hop bitterness, which lingers for quite some time.
Fresh and very drinkable beer. Suitable for all occasions and all seasons. The flavours are well balanced, nothing stands out too much, nothing is too little. A full-blooded IPA.
If you wanted my opinion, I would say that, for me at least, this is the best Slovenian IPA at the moment and, if anyone has the chance, they should give it a try.
Since it's distributed through Hofer stores, it's easy to get hold of and my fridge will have the privilege of keeping at least a few of these cans cold.
Beer meme? Why not :)
"I Know Things" T-shirts with all sorts of stuff on them have been very popular lately. For us beer drinkers, this would be a good one :)

Mad Squirrel Roadkill NEIPA
Brewed by Mad Squirrel Brewery, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England.
Can, 0.44 l, alcohol 6.5%, IBU 20. It's NEIPA, New England IPA style, or so called Hazy IPA, with fruit flavors and aromas, a soft body, and smooth mouthfeel.
And what do the master brewers say?
An Opaque IPA, BAM! Thatβs Roadkill hitting your taste buds like a body bouncing off a bonnet. An ABV of 65mph collides with the squishy pulp of unexpecting fruit. Juicy hops riding shotgun, oats and wheat in the back, and a squashed squirrel on the bumper, this is the flavour-mobile. Put your foot down, enjoy the sunshine haze and leave smooth tire tracks all over your tongue. Roadkill, donβt drink and drive.
These guys are also very serious.
I agree that it's not appropriate to drive a car if you drink something like that.
The beer is unfiltered, cloudy yellow in color, with an average head. It smells of hops. The sip goes down the throat smoothly. There is a bitterness in the mouth, but not too much.
There is a malt sweetness in the background because it's unfiltered. Flavors of citrus and grapefruit, pine. In the aftertaste, everything slowly disappears.
It is very drinkable and fresh. I could easily drink another.
Excellent beer, but unfortunately not available here. Comparing it with the previous one, they are very similar. I don't want to play some kind of local patriot (especially not when it comes to beer), but I find Comet somehow a nuance more delicious because it has more pronounced fruity aromas and bitterness than Roadkill. But both are first-class IPAs.
And what am I listening to as I write this? Nothing from the #newtunes post because I didn't write it, objective circumstances.
But, you can listen to a Spotify playlist I generated from my #newtunes posts from 2019. It's not official yet :) π΅πΈπ€
I need to edit the music I've been posting here somehow, but typing takes time ...
