Beer Tasting: Carlsberg Pilsner and Guinness Draught

Hello, beer tasters! 🍻 😎 🍻

What's up? Here's the real summer. Thousands of tourists with cars, vans, mobile homes, and motorbikes are slowly moving towards the sea. The border with Croatia is 12 kilometers away, and all the convoys are moving very slowly.

The first such summer weekend of impact. It's impossible to move around the city by car. It's lucky that today is 260 #beersaturday, so I've retreated to my place and don't care about the traffic chaos outside.

Today I have two cans, one pils, one dark, both classics.

Carlsberg Pilsner

carl2

Brewed by Carlsberg Brewery, Copenhagen, Denmark. Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 5% ABV. It's Pilsner or Pils, brewed according to the classic German process, this one with Danish hops.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Carlsberg has actually become part of the Danish cultural heritage and the Danish thirst.
You experience a harmonious balance between bitterness and sweet while enjoying the bright golden color with the nice foam and the scent of pine, straw, hazelnut, and forest acid.
Yes, it's almost like a spring day in Denmark.

Well, interesting. As I know, Carlsberg is one of the largest industrial brewers, sharing Europe with Heineken.
If I go to the region, the Balkans, Heineken has bought up most of the breweries in the north and Carlsberg in the south ...

The beer is clear yellow, the head is solid but not too creamy. It has no smell. It goes down the throat smoothly, as the brewers mentioned it is nicely balanced, in fact, neither the bitterness of the hops nor the sweetness of the malt stands out.
There is nothing in the aftertaste either, well maybe a little bitterness.

It's fresh and drinkable because it's cold. But because it has been so well 'balanced', there is neither bitterness nor malt, or very, very discreetly.

I was not convinced by this beer. If you had no choice then you just drink what is. But if I had a choice I would certainly taste something else. Eh ...

Meme? Yes, why not :)

Guinness Draught Stout

carl5

Brewed by St. James's Gate Brewery, Dublin, Ireland.
Can, 0.44 l, alcohol 4.2% ABV. It's a Stout, precise Irish Dry Stout, a black beer with a pronounced roasted flavor with the taste of coffee or chocolate or both.

What do the Master Brewers say?

We won’t lie, it took more than a while to craft this beer, which is why we’re so passionate about the way it’s poured. And by β€˜passionate’ we mean β€˜proudly obsessed’. This is how we make sure that every single mouthful of your pint tastes exactly as our expert brewers wanted.
Nitro-can, nitro-keg and nitro-bottle; Filtered.
Ingredients: Pale ale malt, about 25 to 30% flaked barley, and about 10% roasted barley, with no other grains or sugars; several hop varieties, mainly Goldings (pellets and isomerized extract); a flocculent head-forming ale yeast.

This seems to me to be one of the most famous dark beers in the world. At least here, Guinness is synonymous with dark beer.

carl6

The beer is dark, almost black color, with a little head, but very creamy. The taste of burnt malt and the bitterness of hops are immediately apparent on the palate. It also tastes of coffee, unsweetened, perhaps also of bitter chocolate, but the coffee flavor predominates.
The bitterness of the roast lingers in the aftertaste for quite some time.

carl7

Very good. Even though it's dark, it feels very fresh and drinkable. The bitterness, whether burnt or smoky, together with the aroma of the coffee lingers in the mouth for a very long time. Usually, if I drink a dark beer, I drink only one, because of the distinct and strong flavors.
Well, it could be two. Or three?

And what am I listening to as I write this? Something from my yesterday's #newtunes post. Great vocal, psychedelic-pop.
