Well, here we are again...back on to yet another Toppling Goliath beer. Is this one going to be bad? Probably not...I mean, it comes from Iowa, after all, the land of the Field of Dreams. I grabbed a four-pack of this one to help celebrate my mom's 70th birthday yesterday. And again, it's a good one!
The wrap was a bit banged up on the drive home in the 90F weather Saturday. Too warm, too quick, and no one wants to put AC on. Still, I like the red T-Rex.
Citra, citra, citra...I do love Citra hops. I prefer the standard Pseu, of course, but this one is still extremely balanced, hoppy, and grapefruity delicious. Oh, it's quite hazy, too, with a solid head.
Coming in at 5.8% ABV and 45 IBU, this NE pale is quite delicious. The Untappd community gave it a 4.34 / 5.00, but I'll give it a 4.25. As mentioned before, it's extremely balanced, but I feel like there is just a tad too much citra in this one. I picked up a slight grain taste too...could be the corn syrup I'm sure they use as an adjunct. Just my simple opinion, however.
Now, what about that birthday party? Well, we decided to grill up some beef tenderloins, potatoes, and some early picked spring asparagus. My mom was very happy with the results (and she too liked the beer).
The beef was almost perfect; bought from a local butcher shop, I managed to hit the medium-rare arena fairly well with all four pieces. And despite both the beer and steak being great, I was indeed happier to have both my parents around with us and in our lives after everything this past year.
Thanks, my #beersaturday friends, for checking this one out. Until next weekend, keep an eye out for those Goliath beers if you like those hazies...I'll be sharing another big TG beer next weekend.
