I jumped borders, yet again, to Minnesota today to grab some beer to drink while grilling this afternoon. Out of nowhere, a new Surly beer (at least new to me) flew out of the cooler and into my arms. Just like the Flash, Reverse-Flash, Zoom, or some other speedster from the DC Universe. If they can map out the Multiverse, why can't I??
Advertised as a "multi-dimensional hazy" IPA, this one is big. It comes in at 7.3% ABV, and features a hop bill of Simcoe, El Dorado, and Citra hops. Sometimes simplicity is the best; it also carries a Golden Promise malt in its hop bill. A big beer from the Cities... @cmplxty , you'd like this one I think!
It's a solid beer, once more. You don't taste the booze, it goes down easy, and the finish is very light. You'd think you were drinking a session beer, but four of these will lead to bad decisions (like regarding R-Planet buys tonight...don't ask). I might still have four tonight anyways; the Brewers are on, after all.
So what did we grill why I started sipping this beer? Well, something pretty special; we found some Chupacabra beef links at our local food co-op earlier today.
That's right; beef, bacon, jalapeno, and cheddar sausages. And they were wonderful! I fired up the Weber, filled up Hattie's small swimming pool, and got to grilling these up with zucchini, onion, and pepper kabobs.
And...I'm stuffed! It's probably a good thing I got this base in tonight. With some, the Brewers will split the doubleheader tonight, and maybe, just maybe...I map the multiverse out too. With some big luck, anyway.
