Today I will tell you about Pelusa, my beautiful cat, and how I came to love her so much that she even gives me kisses, when previously I only had dogs.
In 2019, while I was on a work trip through the provinces of my country (don't think it was outside of Cuba xD), my wife called me one day to inform me that someone had left a cat in a small box, a cat that didn't even have teeth. As a cat lover, my wife didn't hesitate to take her in. (It's important to mention that when I met her, my wife already had 4 cats to which she gave priority in our house. Sometimes, she even prepared their food before ours).
From the very beginning, my wife started taking care of the cat, feeding her and buying her milk and a very small cat bottle (which was donated to us by an NGO called SALBA, of which my wife is a member in our city). She cared for the cat day and night, as being so small, she was afraid she wouldn't survive.
Small kittens need to be fed with milk every two hours, just like babies, to grow strong and healthy. Despite all efforts, the cat didn't do her business, not even urinating or defecating. Worried, my wife took her to the vet, who found no health problems with the cat.
Several days passed, and I finally returned home. They greeted me by showing me the cat, a tiny, furry, and adorable creature that fit in the palm of my hand. I had never had a cat before, let alone one like this.
My wife explained to me that the cat couldn't do her business on her own, and the vet had suggested stimulating her. After trying, without success, my wife asked me to give it a try. I took a damp cloth with drinking water and gently stroked the cat's parts. Surprisingly, after about a minute, the cat began to do her business. It was a relief, as she had gone days without doing so, and my wife feared she would get sick if she couldn't.
So the days went by. I would come home from work, take the cloth, and take care of the cat, who even slept with me. Day by day, my affection for her grew.
A month passed, and everyone at home had developed affection for the cat. The other four older cats mostly ignored her, as she was very calm. What was curious was that every time we turned on the microwave, she would run to it and sit underneath, waiting for her bowl of milk, as if the sound of the microwave signaled that her milk was ready.
Months went by, and the cat, who initially I didn't think would stay with me, became an important part of my family.
Sometimes, we don't anticipate how much love we can feel for an animal until we have it in our lives. Nowadays, Pelusa is with me every day, gives me kisses, grooms me as if I were just another cat, and even shows jealousy and plays with me.

Hoy les contaré sobre Pelusa, mi hermosa gata, y cómo llegué a quererla tanto que incluso me da besos, cuando anteriormente solo tenía perros.
En el año 2019, mientras estaba de viaje de trabajo por las provincias de mi país (no piensen que era fuera de Cuba xD), mi esposa me llamó un día para informarme que alguien había dejado en una pequeña caja a una gata que ni siquiera tenía dientes. Como amante de los gatos, mi esposa no dudó en acogerla. (Es importante mencionar que cuando la conocí, mi esposa ya tenía 4 gatas a las que les daba prioridad en casa. A veces, incluso les preparaba la comida antes que la nuestra).
Desde el primer momento, mi esposa comenzó a cuidar a la gata, alimentándola y comprándole leche y un biberón para gatos muy pequeño (que nos donó una ONG llamada SALBA, de la cual mi esposa es miembro en nuestra ciudad). Cuidaba de la gata día y noche, ya que, al ser tan pequeña, tenía miedo de que no sobreviviera.
Los gatitos pequeños necesitan ser alimentados con leche cada dos horas, al igual que los bebés, para crecer fuertes y saludables. A pesar de todos los esfuerzos, la gata no hacía sus necesidades, ni siquiera orinaba ni defecaba. Preocupada, mi esposa la llevó al veterinario, quien no encontró ningún problema de salud en la gata.
Pasaron varios días, y yo finalmente regresé a casa. Me recibieron mostrándome a la gata, una criatura pequeña, peluda y adorable que cabía en la palma de mi mano. Nunca antes había tenido un gato, y mucho menos uno como este.
Mi esposa me explicó que la gata no hacía sus necesidades por sí sola y que el veterinario le había sugerido estimularla. Después de intentarlo, sin éxito, mi esposa me pidió que lo intentara yo. Tomé un paño húmedo con agua potable y suavemente acaricié las partes de la gata. Sorprendentemente, después de aproximadamente un minuto, la gata comenzó a hacer sus necesidades. Fue un alivio, ya que había pasado días sin hacerlo, y mi esposa temía que se enfermara si no podía hacerlo.
Así transcurrieron los días. Llegaba del trabajo, tomaba el paño y cuidaba de la gata, que dormía incluso conmigo. Día tras día, mi cariño por ella crecía.
Un mes pasó, y todos en casa habían desarrollado afecto por la gata. Las otras cuatro gatas mayores la ignoraban en su mayoría, ya que era muy tranquila. Lo curioso era que cada vez que encendíamos el microondas, ella corría hacia él y se sentaba debajo, esperando su tazón de leche, como si el sonido del microondas fuera una señal de que su leche estaba lista.
Los meses pasaron, y la gata, que en un principio no pensé que se quedaría conmigo, se convirtió en una parte importante de mi familia.
En ocasiones, no anticipamos cuánto amor podemos sentir por un animal hasta que lo tenemos en nuestras vidas. Hoy en día, Pelusa está conmigo a diario, me da besos, me acicala como si fuera uno más de los gatos y hasta muestra celos y juega conmigo.
