Caturday With Casper

My daughter found this kitten a couple of weeks ago and brought her home. The premise was that she would take care of the kitten until the weekend and then a friend would take her. So, here we are after two weeks and it seems she is becoming a part of our family now.

I really wasn't looking to take in another cat or kitten but sometimes these things just happen. Her staying though is contingent upon her playing nice with Jimmy the Sun Conure and Phil the Guinea Pig. Since she came as a kitten then I think there is a good chance that she will be okay with them.

We estimated that she was about four to five weeks old when we got her and she does have an eye issue so we have been applying medicine to that and we had to purchase kitten milk and dropper to feed her with although she is eating a little bit of kitten food.

I can imagine that you may be wondering how she came to be known as Casper?! First off, we believe she is a female but the name came in a weird way. My husband told me (after the fact) that he had been thinking of a name that might be good for a gray ghost. I suspect this is because the kitten very much reminded him of his cat that passed away named Fuzz that looked much like the kitten looks when he got Fuzz. As he was thinking of this 'gray ghost' name, our son came downstairs and asked if we could name her Casper. Almost seemed like a sign so Casper she became.

Oh my goodness! This cat is playful! I'm hoping she grows out of the biting a scratching. She doesn't really seem to be doing it in a mean way but as a playful way. Evidently, she didn't have siblings to realize how harsh she is being when she plays. My husband is certain that she will grow out of it.

It does seems like he is her favorite human right now unless it is feeding time then I'm the one she wants.

Tiger, our other inside cat, has been tolerant for the most part. He has batted her a few times when she started being a little too playful around him. He has been good with sharing his cat house with her. He also shares his toys when he feels like it but my husband and I did wake up one morning to find that he had brought quite a few of his toys upstairs. It was actually funny to see the toys outside our bedroom door. We put some of the toys back downstairs and have since added a few to the collection. Tiger has gone up to her while she was sleeping and licked her so that is a good sign I think.

So, I guess we're gonna see how this goes. She doesn't like unexpected and or loud noises. She also loves Tiger's swooshy tail and wants so bad to play with it but hasn't tried yet. She's growing fast but today we have to go get another can of kitten milk. I think this may be the last can that we'll need to get according to her age and how long a can lasts. She can lap up the kitten milk as she did it once but hasn't done it since. It does seem like she likes to sit on my husband's phone when he lays his phone down. Tiger does the same thing so maybe she got it from him. It is pretty cute!
