A new month of misery and lockdown and not having to look presentable is upon us, you can see boredom has reached an all time high with the topic of this months competition.

I don't know when last I heard the term boxset probably when Buffy The Vampire Slayer was still on TV okay may be Ugly Betty but really even in South Africa with our shit internet we be streaming boy.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to series since its such a commitment to get into a story and most of it has been complete rubbish of late, it made picking my top 3 pretty easy.

My Reasons for the Nomination

In my opinion one of the most binge watchable series on the planet, but best to do it by yourself especially if the company you keep is a bit slow on the uptake or likes to take, House of cards is a great think piece and I am sure a lot of it is based on reality.

It takes a really boring topic, in American politics and jazzes it up into something much more sinister. It follows the life of Frank Underwood a Democrat appointed as the secretary of state.

Along with his wife, he sets out on a quest to seek revenge on the people who betrayed him while successfully rising to supremacy as the president of the USA.

Nomination Number Two

Mad Men

My Reasons for the Nomination

If you ever wanted to know what it was like to be an Ad man back in the 60s this show has it on point. It follows the life and times of Donald Draper, the creative director at Sterling Cooper in New York, tries to maintain a balance between his exceptional professional life and wavering personal life in the 1960s.

While the topic may sound hardly very thrilling, its done in a captivating way and introduces several concepts such as american excepionalism, womens rights, consumerism, infidelity, mental health and more.

The show is a slow burner but the pacing overall is good and tells the story of Don and his journey of self discovery. It may be 92 episodes of awesome but it ended at the right time.

Peaky Blinders

My Reasons for the Nomination

The show is set in 1919 and follows a dangerous Tommy Shelby leads Peaky Blinders, a criminal gang based in Birmingham.

The show has some pretty colourful characters and you'll soon feel like you're part of Shelby company limited a hybrid family business and criminal organisation that starts off as a lowly street gang and turns into a major force in its city both economically and politically.

The show has started to lose its way in the final seasons but its still top acting and production value and worth a watch by order of the peaky fook'n blinders.
