Esta semana no tenía muchas ideas para hacer las actividades del grupo de personajes en parejas. Pete, el personaje que seleccioné para estas actividades, es emocionalmente cerrado a raíz del trauma que tuvo donde sus padres perdieron la vida así que él se enfoca sólo en el deber, las obligaciones y deja de lado los sentimientos al momento de cumplir sus responsabilidades.
Su hermanito Tom, relata en el capítulo 19, El Hermano de Pete, lo ocurrido ese día:
“Tom: -Y desde ese día, Pete se quedó como mudo. No habló por mucho tiempo con nadie y la gente empezó a considerarlo como a una persona extraña.
Brando: -Comprendo que fue una experiencia muy amarga.
Tonina: -Eso explica la filosofía de Pete de ser exageradamente estricto.
Tom: -Pero yo no puedo creer que Pete sea una persona anormal. Si así lo fuera, no sería el capitán del Gran Dragón del Espacio, ¿verdad? El capitán de esta nave tiene que ser una persona de corazón muy noble.
Brando: -Sí…”
Durante esa conversación, Pete, se encontraba del otro lado de la puerta de la habitación para ir a ver a su hermano después de una batalla que habían tenido y lo quería mandar de regreso al colegio, de donde Tom se escapó, pero al escuchar lo que dijo su hermano, se quedó sin hacer nada. Estaba listo para tocar la puerta y se quedó un rato quieto y optó por irse. Se notaba que lo que había dicho su hermano le había afectado.
Así que, no es un personaje completamente cerrado a las emociones, pero sí sabe mantenerlas bien en control y es bastante duro cuando tiene que serlo. Eso hace complicado tratar de hacer algún cambio en la dinámica de relacionarse con los otros personajes como si fuera algo que ocurriera de la noche a la mañana, sobre todo les parecería raro a los que son fans de la serie porque sabrían qué puede o no hacer Pete.
Había visto muchas ilustraciones con el tema de las flores amarillas en mi muro durante los últimos días y eso me hizo preguntar: ¿Pete le regalaría flores a Ylia?
Bueno, siendo el Capitán alguien tan cerrado emocionalmente, tan apegado a los procedimientos y demasiado estricto, no creo que se las hubiera dado fácilmente. Habría sido como si le estaba entregando algo indebido.
Así que hice una escena con eso. Luego, recordé que Pete es demasiado impredecible. A veces es demasiado alejado y otras veces no es completamente asocial y muestra su lado noble sobre todo con su compañera Marissa.
Me quedé con la duda y vino a mi cabeza un diálogo entre Brando y Pete:
“Brando: - ¡Oh, Pete! ¡Es muy difícil entenderte!
Pete: - Para entenderme se necesita ser muy inteligente.”
Le cambié el color de la flor amarilla porque no me gusta mucho su significado, preferí que fuera blanca.
Y aprendí a hacer el efecto de aberración de color de los videos retro sin usar filtros, así que les comparto la versión original y la versión con el efecto.
¡Y fue así como encontré qué dibujar para continuar con la dinámica de parejas del grupo!

This week I didn’t have many ideas for the paired character group activities. Pete, the character I selected for these activities, is emotionally closed off due to the trauma he experienced when his parents lost their lives, so he focuses solely on duty and obligations, sidelining his feelings when fulfilling his responsibilities.
His little brother Tom recounts in Chapter 19, “Pete’s Brother,” what happened that day:
“Tom: -And since that day, Pete became mute. He didn’t talk for a long time with anyone, and people began to consider him a strange person.
Brando: -I understand it was a very bitter experience.
Tonina: -That explains Pete's philosophy of being excessively strict.
Tom: -But I can’t believe Pete is an abnormal person. If he were, he wouldn’t be the captain of the Great Space Dragon, would he? The captain of this ship has to be a person with a very noble heart.
Brando: -Yes…”
During that conversation, Pete was on the other side of the bedroom door, preparing to see his brother after a battle they had, wanting to send him back to school, from which Tom had escaped. But upon hearing what his brother said, he was left motionless. He was ready to knock on the door, stood still for a while, and then opted to leave. It was clear that what his brother had said affected him.
So, he is not a character completely closed off to emotions, but he knows how to keep them well-controlled and is quite tough when he needs to be. This complicates trying to make any changes in the dynamics of relating to the other characters as if it were something that could happen overnight, especially it would seem odd to those who are fans of the series because they would know what Pete can or cannot do.
I had seen many illustrations with the theme of yellow flowers on my wall in recent days, and that made me wonder: Would Pete give flowers to Ylia?
Well, being the Captain someone so emotionally closed, so attached to procedures, and overly strict, I don’t think he would have easily given them. It would have felt like he was handing over something inappropriate.
So I created a scene with that. Then, I remembered that Pete is too unpredictable. Sometimes he is very distant, and other times he is not completely antisocial and shows his noble side, especially with his companion Marissa.
I was left wondering, and a dialogue came to my mind between Brando and Pete:
“Brando: -Oh, Pete! It’s very hard to understand you!
Pete: -To understand me, one needs to be very intelligent.”
I changed the color of the yellow flower because I don’t like its meaning very much; I preferred it to be white.
And I learned to create the color aberration effect of retro videos without using filters, so I’m sharing both the original version and the version with the effect.
And that’s how I found out what to draw to continue with the couple dynamics of the group!
