Cultural Dossier / Venezuela - Táchira state (English/Spanish)

A loving greeting to all my friends of Hive, I am pleased today to share with you some beautiful photographs that I have taken in different activities of my work. As I have said on different occasions, I dedicate myself to cultural work, this has brought me closer for years to the different artistic expressions, as well as to the different popular chores. This is a small dossier of great popular cultors of my region, I hope you enjoy this post and get to know some of the people who maintain the cultural life in the state of Táchira.

In the first picture, dressed in the traditional costume of "La burra" you will see Celina Rendón "la muñequera" a great woman who at 74 years old danced in the street even without music, and tirelessly sewed her handmade dolls, one of the tangible heritage of our country. Sadly Celina died this year, of a heart attack, but her memory lives on in the culture of the city.

In the second photo are two brilliant musicians, Carmen Rosa and Celia Marcano. The first one, a young violinist and mandolin player with a wonderful musical ear. The second one is a composer, singer and cuatrista of long trajectory, her presence stands out in all the cultural activities of the city of San Cristobal and its surroundings, also her role as music teacher of children of scarce resources. She is one of the safeguards of the traditional music of our country and the region.

In the third and fourth are street artists, creative nomads. In the third, a cultural collective of young people making a statue of the two most important virgins of the Andean region: The Virgin of Peace of Trujillo state and the Virgin of Consolation of Táriba in the state of Táchira. In the fourth, El Payaso Poroto, this great artist is from the center of the country, but in his self-managed tour he visited the city of San Cristobal and was well received in our streets, one of the best presentations I have seen.

In the fifth picture the ballet shoes of the students of La Escuela Nacional de Danza. This institution takes its students from a very young age and there they prepare themselves for years as professional dancers. In this presentation the girls danced in the street, in the heart of the city in the middle of the urban bustle. I witnessed how the Ballet, an art that has always been considered elite, shone in the street among ordinary people.

In the sixth photo is Franklin Sanchez, a musician of the city. A referent of the musical area in the State, founding member of great groups such as Venezuela canta and Son y canta por Venezuela. As well as occasional member of Regionales de la gaita. Community trainer and music teacher at the school of La Concordia, this excellent artist is another of the guardians of the Venezuelan musical tradition.

In the last one you will find Eli Rangel, street artist. This character has been drawing portraits for decades in the Plaza Bolivar in the city of San Cristobal. Everyone knows him because besides being a great artist he is a charismatic and friendly man. Undoubtedly this character is a living heritage of the city.

I hope you have enjoyed this cultural dossier, if you visit the state of Táchira you will surely meet some of these characters. This is a small sample of the cultural activities in my city, I hope soon to be able to share with you a little more of these moments captured by my camera.
