En esta ocasión, les relataré algunas menos conocidas de mi país, Venezuela, entonces... asegúrense de que ningún espectro del respira en la nuca y acompáñenme en este viaje.

El Enano de la Catedral/The Cathedral Dwarf
El enano de la catedral es un demonio que se aparece en las inmediaciones de la catedral de Caracas. Se presenta como un hombre de corta estatura, de sonrisa bonachona que le pregunta a los incautos si pueden ofrecerle fuego para su tabaco, para posteriormente, darles un susto tremendo.
The cathedral dwarf is a demon that appears in the vicinity of the cathedral in Caracas. He appears as a short man with a good-natured smile who asks the unwary if they can offer him fire to his tabacco, to later give them a tremendous fright.
Cuenta la leyenda que una fría noche, un muchacho caminaba por las calles de Caracas para encontrarse con su novia (venía de una fiesta según otras versiones), en cuanto empezó a atravesar la plaza Bolívar junto a la catedral, empezó a sentir miedo, mucho miedo, y sin aparente explicación.
Legend has it that one cold night, a boy was walking through the streets of Caracas to meet his girlfriend (he was coming from a party according to other versions), as soon as he began to cross the Bolivar's square next to the cathedral, he began to feel fear, very much fear and without apparent explanation.
Una vez que estuvo del otro lado, caminó por la acera de la plaza y comenzó a oír pisadas detrás de él, cada vez más fuerte y más cerca. Asustado, empezó a rezar, pensando que quizá era algún fantasma.
Once he was on the other side, he walked down the sidewalk to the square and began to hear footsteps behind him, getting louder and closer. Scared, he began to pray, thinking that maybe it was some ghost.
Lo que sea que lo perseguía se puso a su lado. Él no se atrevía a mirar, pero un fuerte aullido lo sobresaltó, aunque a su vez lo tranquilizó pues el «espectro» era un perro enclenque. Tal fue su alivio que comenzó a reír a carcajadas, burlándose de sí mismo.
Whatever was chasing him, stood by his side. He didn't dare to look but a loud howl startled him, but in turn reassured him because the "specter" was a weak dog. Such was his relief that he began to laugh out loud, mocking himself.
Al llegar a la punta de la acera, justo en la entrada de la catedral, vio a un hombre de baja estatura, vestido de blanco con un sombrero de ala ancha. Este lo saludó con una mano, sonriéndole. El joven hizo lo propio, entonces el enano le hizo señas para que se acercara, cosa que el chico hizo, aún extrañado de que ese hombre estuviese ahí parado a esas horas de la noche.
As he reached the end of the sidewalk, right at the entrance to the cathedral, he saw a short man dressed in white with a wide-brimmed hat. He greeted him with one hand, smiling at him. The young man did the same, then the dwarf motioned for him to come closer, which the boy did it, still surprised that this man was standing there at that time of the night.
Una vez que estuvo junto al enano, éste le pidió fuego para su tabaco y él, amablemente, sacó su encendedor para darle fuego.
Once he was with the dwarf, the short man asked him for a light for his tobacco and the boy kindly took out his lighter to give him a light.
Suele suceder que las advertencias que hemos recibido, las recordamos tarde y fue precisamente eso lo que le pasó a nuestro joven. Su abuelo ya le había advertido que no le diera nunca fuego al enano de la catedral, pero ya era tarde.
It often happens that we remember too late the warnings we have received before, and that is precisely what happened to our young man. His grandfather had already warned him about never to give fire to the cathedral dwarf, but it was too late for him.
El enano sonrió con ojos rojos y colmillos que le sobrepasaban de la barbilla. Empezó a crecer y crecer. El joven se quedó paralizado de miedo, viendo la transformación. El enano lo miro riendo y le dijo:

La mujer con cachos de la pastora

Espectro que deambula por las diferentes iglesias, buscando perdón y redención. Se trata de una mujer transformada en demonio, con un par de «cachos» es decir, cuernos, que le sobresalen de la cabeza.
Specter that wanders through the different churches seeking forgiveness and redemption. It's about a woman transformed into a demon, with a pair of "horns" that protrude from her head.
Según los habitantes de La Pastora, en Caracas. Hace algunos años, una joven, hija de una mujer muy religiosa, hizo un ritual demoníaco para castigar a su novio infiel.
According to the inhabitants of La Pastora, in Caracas. Some years ago, a young daughter of a very religious woman, performed a demonic ritual to punish her unfaithful boyfriend.
Dicho ritual tuvo lugar en el cuarto de la joven a altas horas de la noche. Cuando su madre se dio cuenta de que había luz en el cuarto de su hija a esa hora, y fue a ver que sucedía, se quedó aterrada de verla en trance en medio de lo que parecía un pentagrama con velas.
This ritual took place in the young woman's room, late at night. When her mother realized that there was light in her daughter's room at that hour, and she went to see what was happening there, she was terrified to see her in a trance in the middle of what looked like a pentagram with candles.
La madre de la muchacha se acercó para tocarla, rompiendo la protección que había hecho la joven, entonces aquél demonio que invocaba la poseyó. La muchacha sufrió una transformación horrible: su cara se deformó, sus ojos se hicieron más grandes y rojos, y en la cabeza le crecieron un par de cuernos. Ella, enloquecida, golpeó a su madre, dejándola inconsciente, luego escapó por la ventana.
The girl's mother got closer to touch her, breaking the protection that the young woman had made, so that demon she invoked possessed her. The girl underwent a horrible transformation: her face was deformed, her eyes became bigger and red, and a pair of horns grew on her head. En el estado Táchira, existe una carretera en cuya curva llamada «La curva del diablo» aparece una guapa muchacha que alza la mano a los conductores durante la noche, pero ella no es cualquier transeúnte...

Un joven venia conduciendo por la carretera a altas horas de la noche. Empezó de repente a hacer frío, o al menos más del que ya de por sí hacía, entonces, un poco más adelante, en la famosa curva, una jovencita le hizo señas para que se detuviera. Era demasiado guapa, así que él no lo pensó dos veces y se detuvo.

Al no hallar respuesta lógica, el muchacho entró en pánico y corrio a su auto para manejar deprisa hacia el hospital más cercano, pues, no se sentía nada bien.
Finding no logical answer, the boy panicked and ran to his car to drive quickly to the nearest hospital, because he was not feeling at all well.
Al día siguiente, en el hospital aún, le preguntó a la enfermera por el incidente, y ella le explicó que esa muchacha solía aparecerse en esa curva desde hacia mucho tiempo, cuando tuvo un accidente automovilístico con sus amigos, donde ella resulto la única victima fatal.
The next day, still in the hospital, he asked the nurse about the incident, and she explained that that girl used to appear on that curve for a long time when, with her friends, she had a car accident where she was the only fatal victim.
La loca de Ejido
The crazy woman from Ejido
Espectro que deambula sin rumbo por las calles del estado Mérida. Una mujer pálida de mirada perdida, vestida de negro, con el cabello enmarañado y suelto, camina descalza y es seguida por muchos niños...
Specter wandering aimlessly through the streets of the state of Mérida. A pale woman with a lost gaze, dressed in black, with loose tangled hair, barefoot and followed by many children...
Según la leyenda, Marta y Lorenzo eran dos amantes que estaban ya comprometidos. Poco tiempo antes de la boda, Lorenzo tuvo que viajar a Mérida, y debido a la enfermedad de la madre de Marta, ella no pudo acompañarle.
According to legend, Marta and Lorenzo were two lovers who were already engaged. Shortly before the wedding, Lorenzo had to travel to Mérida, and due to Marta's mother's illness, she was unable to accompany him.
El 26 de marzo de 1812, un fuerte terremoto sacudió a Mérida con resultados catastróficos. Al enterarse de esto, Marta viajó a buscar a su amado. Vagó largo rato entre el desastre, buscando a Lorenzo, pero no fue hasta que llegó a la iglesia colapsada que se detuvo. La madre de Lorenzo estaba sentada en las escaleras y le dijo que su hijo estaba muerto y que estaba sepultado bajo los escombros de la iglesia.
Thus, on March 26, 1812, a strong earthquake shook Merida with catastrophic results. When she knew this, Marta traveled to find her lover. She wandered a long time through the disaster looking for Lorenzo, but it was not until she reached the collapsed church that she stopped. La novia de la Guaira/La Guaira's bride
Espectro de una novia que se aparece en «La carretera vieja» que suele asustar e incluso causar accidentes en su interacción con los incautos.
Specter of a bride who appears in "The Old Road" who often scares and even causes accidents in her interaction with the unwary.
Una de las versiones de esta leyenda cuenta que Camila iba a casarse con un joven de Caracas, y que el día de la boda, el auto que llevaría a Camila hasta la ciudad, se descompuso. La muchacha entonces se puso a hacer señales para que algún conductor la llevara, pero nadie parecía querer detenerse.
One of the versions of this legend tells that Camila was going to marry a young man from Caracas, and on the day of the wedding, the car that would take Camila to the city, broke down. The girl then began to signal for a driver to take her, but no one seemed to want to stop.
Al final, un auto (para su fortuna o desgracia) se detuvo. La muchacha se subió y emprendieron la marcha a Caracas, sin embargo, el conductor estaba ebrio y poco más allá en la carretera, él perdió el control del auto y se precipitaron ladera abajo.
In the end, a car (for her fortune or misfortune) stopped. The girl got into the car and they set off for Caracas, however, the driver was drunk and a little further down the road, he lost control of the car and they rushed down the slope.
