Throwback to my mandatory one year professional training and certification program.

It's throwback Thursday once again and it's always a joy to relieve the memory of great moments of the past. This week, I will be sharing on the sweet memories and some major highlights of the mandatory one year professional training and certification program between the year 2019-2020, it promises to be interesting, kindly follow.

The saying is true which says: "How time flies" and the best thing to do is to maximize each season as they come. Been a health professional trained in the University and in the premier school of Pharmacy in West Africa, it is mandatory to undergo a professional training and certification called internship which I did about five (5) years ago. This phase of my professional journey is full of sweet memories and forms the background/kick-start of my professional engagement.

This training was for a year done in the State' Specialist Hospital and for easy training, I had to secure an accommodation so close to the Hospital. I had good neighbors then and we all lived coordially in peace and harmony. During this one year mandatory training, I was introduced into various aspects of the ethics and practice of the profession which helped even subsequently after the training.
Also, it is worthy of note to say that i went through the training with my other colleagues some of which we graduated together and others from different institutions and also, we had senior colleagues that went through their mandatory national service in this same health institution aswell.

During this training, there were various presentations by each internee including me and also some organised by various representatives of drug companies. Some interesting part of this training was when I was when I was part of the selected few that went for a one-day training on antimicrobial stewardship as organised by the famous/reknown drug manufacturing company Glasoklinesmith (GSK) where I met and interacted with colleagues from other health institutions and we are still cordial till now.

During this training, there was Ebola, lassa fever outbreaks and we are sensitised and trained on handling such emergencies. Notably also, the Covid-19 pandemic also erupted towards the very end of the internship training program and this opens me up to various trainings and management procedures in such case. I was involved in various plannings, arrangements and organisational development based on some of my exceptional qualities/abilities.

At the end of the mandatory one year professional training and certification, a get-together was organised for us all and there was presentation of gifts and certificates based on individual performance and records and i had a good record in all. It's a huge privilege to be trained by seasoned professionals some of which has retired now and I really appreciates their individual efforts and contributions. This was how my mandatory one year professional training and certification program went and it was a pleasurable and memorable one. Thank you all for reading.
