I Might Officially Now be the SCP Foundation's Administrator (Kind of)

I've blogged about the SCP Foundation before. If you don't know what the SCP Foundation is you can read about it on Wikipedia. That's not what this post is about. This post is about the name of the Foundation. More specifically the domain name.

In the Wikipedia entry for the SCP Foundation linked above if you scroll down to the Explanatory notes section you'll see in the third note it states:

SCP officially stands for "Special Containment Procedures" in the organization's name...

I knew that before today. What I didn't know before today was that there was a .foundation domain. Once I found out about .foundation my exact words were, "Surely someone must have already (sound of my typing) IT'S AVAILABLE!?!"

Since Namecheap is currently offering it at $5.98 plus the $0.18 ICANN fee then, yeah, you bet I will register specialcontainmentprocedures.foundation.

As the administrator of specialcontainmentprocedures.foundation my first duty is to have the preternatural anomaly known as "ChatGPT" create a file for it:

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX refers to the domain "specialcontainmentprocedures.foundation" and is to be monitored by Foundation personnel designated to the Web Anomaly Research Division (WARD). WARD is responsible for regularly checking the content hosted on the domain for any potential anomalies or security breaches. Any unauthorized access or tampering with the domain's content is to be investigated immediately, and the responsible parties are to be tracked and detained if necessary.

Access to SCP-XXXX is restricted to Level 3 personnel and above. Any proposed changes or additions to the domain's content require approval from the Site Director and the Web Anomaly Research Division Lead.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an online domain registered under the name "specialcontainmentprocedures.foundation." The domain's content consists of a website that appears to be a repository for fictional narratives and documentation related to anomalous objects, entities, and phenomena. The website is publicly accessible on the surface web, but its true nature is known only to Foundation personnel.

The website contains a collection of documents presented in the format of SCP files, similar to those found on the SCP Foundation's official database. These documents describe various anomalous objects, creatures, and events, complete with containment procedures, descriptions, and addenda. Notably, the objects described on the website do not exist in reality and are purely fictional.

Despite the fictional nature of the content, SCP-XXXX has demonstrated a memetic effect on some individuals who access it. These individuals may develop temporary belief in the existence of the described anomalies, even though they are entirely fictitious. The intensity of this belief varies among individuals, but it typically dissipates after a short period, often after leaving the website.

To prevent the spread of misinformation and potential breaches of secrecy, Foundation personnel are tasked with monitoring the website's traffic and ensuring that no sensitive information is disclosed. Additionally, web crawlers and search engines are to be regularly checked to ensure that the website's content does not surface in public search results.

SCP-XXXX was discovered on [Date of Discovery] when reports of anomalous beliefs and discussions related to the content of "specialcontainmentprocedures.foundation" began to emerge on social media and online forums. A thorough investigation led to the identification and containment of SCP-XXXX.

Please excuse me. I must go now to assemble an elite Mobile Task Force for specialcontainmentprocedures.foundation.
