Hail to the Hive!
! woke up this morning (cue blues riff' da na na na naa)
and it was a glorious day and as we had zero plans to be cruising we took full advantage of the solar power to charge ### EVERYTHING !
and that meant drone batteries and controller, oh yeah !
It did take a long while to charge as the controller was fully depleted after much neglect and the best weather had gone but I had to get her in the sky. @diveratt 3D printed me the rig so I can use my I pad rather than be squinting at my phone and it works pretty good.
Time to Fly
so up up and away at first circling Badger and getting some perspective shots
But when I got above the treeline I became aware of a stiff breeze picking up so had to concentrate and remember my left from rights etc when looking at the drone and not the screen (it's been a while since I had the bird up there)
The straighter stretch of water, in the shot below, is the Leicester Arm of the grand Union canal and to its right, snaking its way thought the countryside is the River Soar.
Badger is a tiny boat and looks very diddy from up here.
@diveratt found a similar shot from google maps in Polesworth as we broke down there last year and were there long enough to be caught by Satellite cameras haha
Source image Google Map . It's my boat though nosy buggers!
The wind got progressively stronger so I had to cut the flight short and, if honest, I was slightly relieved to get the bird on the ground again. It was a narrow stretch of canal tow path and not much room for error.
But todays short flight has got me back in the proverbial saddle again which has been long overdue. I always have @diveratt nagging me to fly the drone so at least I'm airborne again!
And now we have this #drone community I'll be posting some more from my travels which will be fun 😃.
