Aerial shots of Debach Airfield, UK.

A few weeks ago I went to Ipswich for work. On a day off day, I explored the surrounding areas and (amongst other places) found this airfield that had been repurposed in to an industrial estate.

This airfield was occupied by the 493rd USAAF squadron from May 1944 for D-Day operations. It was home for nearly 3000 people and B-24 Liberators, which were soon replaced by B-17 Flying Fortresses.

The base was closed in August 1945 and the squadron moved back to the US.

Parts of two of the old runways are in use for commercial units and there is a small museum in the old control tower.
A third runway would have been in the middle of the first image running left to right in a straight line.
